We can expect Liam Coen and the Jaguars to come out firing in this one after their meltdown last week. Yes, they face the number one defense in the league as New England is holding their opponents to eight points per game. Drake Maye hasn’t had a good game yet, but has a favorable matchup against Jaguars defense allowing 6.4 yards per play. The Patriots offense allowed almost eight passing yards on average to Drew Lock, not going to mentioned the Aaron Rodgers and that Pittsburgh offense, so we can expect some big plays from Trevor Lawrence and his weapons as well.
Hard to find this one but I'd take it down to 240.5. Through two weeks Lawrence simply isn't scrambling as much, including last week against a pesky Broncos pass rush. The Patriots are very good up front and can contain Lawrence if he gets frisky. I'll bank on him not getting much on the ground and getting challenged through the air against a stout Pats secondary, leaving him with good but not amazing passing yardage in what amounts to a low-scoring game.
The Jaguars had the top rush defense in the NFL last year, holding teams to 85.6 yards per game. Week 1, Judkins only had 33 yards and last week Dobbins was also under 40. We are 2-0 in this prop. I faded RBs on a weekly basis against them last year and was profitable. TreVeyon Henderson had a 76-yard game vs. the Steelers last week, which 39 came on one run. He was 15 for 37 on the rest of the carries.
Jacksonville is the much better team and I was surprised early in the week at how low the number was. 2.5 is harder to find now but they are out there, with juice that I believe is not at all too expensive. The Jaguars are excellent against the run, they were very good in Denver last week for three quarters, and now they face a team that has simply beaten the Steelers, who I feel is one of the worst teams in the league. Drake Maye looks like the arm strength is lacking and the SuperBowl loser hangover is still very fresh. Jacksonville impresses me. They are good. New England, not so much and they have typically struggled over the years in the Florida heat.
Is this a trap line? Is it too good to be true? Parker Washington has averaged six catches and 106 yards receiving per game since Week 16 of last season. He's become a must start in fantasy football and a must bet in real life. Washington, by lining up in the slot, should avoid star cornerback Christian Gonzalez of New England. I would be surprised if he wasn't peppered with targets by Trevor Lawrence and if the Jaguars' new #1 WR fell below 80 yards on Sunday.
Last 2.5 on our board so I'll go ahead and grab it now. The Patriots are banged up a bit and Drake Maye has taken a major step back from 2025 in the early going. Actually it goes back further. Maye has 12 turnovers in since the start of last season's playoffs compared to 11 in the entire 2025 regular season. He also been sacked 27 times in the past six and lost starting guard Mike Onwenu to a season-ending injury in Week 2 . And still no AJ Brown is definitely going to hurt Maye's numbers. Doubt the Patriots can run much as the Jags have gone 19 straight games without allowing a 75-yard rusher, the longest active streak in the league.
FanDuel. Going to drink a bit of juice on this one, but for good reason: Parker Washington is on a tear. Going back to last season, he’s cleared this line in each of his last six games, with both a 31% target rate and catch rate in that span. This season, he has an absurd 35% first read rate, making him the unquestioned top dog amongst the Jaguars pass catchers. Lining up in the slot for most of his snaps, he’ll mostly avoid Christian Gonzalez’ coverage, only boosting this matchup for him. The Patriots stout run defense should have the Jaguars throwing plenty in this one. Pair this with 50+ yards to make the juice more palpable.
The Patriots enjoyed a comfortable win against a Steelers team that couldn't move the ball, and the Jaguars offense figures to be better. But the Patriots offense should also have an easier time in this matchup after Drake Maye has had to face the Seahawks and Steelers in the first two weeks. The Patriots have a strong enough pass defense to limit what Jacksonville can do on offense like last week, even if the Pats may not quite be on Denver's level. I have this as a 2-point line so I'm going to jump on this with the Pats while I can get a push on the key number.
The Jaguars are the better team here. Dominated the first half and had the Broncos dead, but missing a FG and then letting Denver right back in the game. Meanwhile, yes, the Patriots defense looked good in shutting down Pittsburgh. But what does that mean. A Pittsburgh team that struggled to get by a really bad Atlanta team the week before. I am just not sold yet that New England can beat anyone good. Cause they really haven't. They didn't last year, even with a Super Bowl run, not facing a top 10 defense in reg season and struggled in all 3 postseason wins. The Pats scored on a scoop 6 and a TreVeyon Henderson house call, while Drake Maye was awful again.
I played Denver last week, and while the bet cashed, I actually thought Jacksonville was the better team. The Jags didn't put the game away when they had the chance, which let the Broncos seize momentum in the fourth quarter and steal the win. I like Jacksonville to bounce back at home this week. The Patriots beat an average Steelers team, although I still wasn't overly impressed with the performance. Even though the Jags lost in Denver, I view them as a legit Super Bowl contender. I'll lay under a field goal early with Jacksonville at home. I think this number might get to 3 or 3.5 during the week.
