Understanding Public and Money
I like this spot for the Padres coming off a loss to Washington at home. San Diego is healthy and looks like they might be rounding into form for a big push during the second half of the season. I really like their chances today against former Padre MacKenzie Gore. Gore has been solid this season but has struggled in June with an ERA over 5.00. He also has really struggled against opposing left handed hitters this season surrendering an OPS of 1.026, meanwhile San Diego has numerous quality left handed hitters.
It feels like I've had to say this a million times this season, but the Padres are looking to bounce back from a disappointment. The offense was showing great signs of life in the past several weeks, culminating with 23 runs in Thursday and Friday's games combined. Then they were shut out on Saturday. They hit much better against lefties and should have some good in-house scouting for former Padres starter MacKenzie Gore here. I like a strong effort from the Padres' bats, plus, the Nationals are terrible offensively against righties (Seth Lugo starts for the Padres), so we're playing the run line (-1.5, +100).
