No DeVonta Smith or in a surprise Pro Bowl tackle Lane Johnson for the Eagles, but LA is down a few defenders led by Aaron Donald. So I'd think Philly could get to 17 at home -- unless the Monday night version of Jalen Hurts shows up again. Our model has them at 20.
The Eagles are surprisingly without Lane Johnson today, and the offense has typically struggled when he's not on the field. With Fred Johnson also out, the Eagles are severely limited on the offensive line, while No. 1 receiver DeVonta Smith is also out due to injury. I'm not sure in those circumstances how the Eagles -- an offense that wasn't playing well when healthier -- is going to get to 20 points.
The talented Rams cannot fall to 1-3 SU, can they? Attribute the two defeats to the vagaries of travel to Australia and an incorrect official's call in Denver at crunch time. WR Puka Nacua is set to return. While DT Aaron Donald sits, the Rams need not deal with stellar OT Lane Johnson, a late scratch, leaving duties to a rookie. QB Jalen Hurts will be hampered by the absences of WR Davonta Smith and TE Dallas Goedert. When getting points at home under coach Nick Siriani, Philly is 0-5 SU, 1-4 ATS.
A meeting of teams that are a combined 1-5 ATS. Yikes. The Rams are getting back Puka Nacua, a top five WR, while the Eagles are not only losing DeVonta Smith but playing without Dallas Goedert and a suddenly inactive Lane Johnson. This boils down to whether Los Angeles can stop the run. I believe they can do it enough. Sean McVay has never beaten Nick Sirianni, and the schedule (not only teams but locations) has been ridiculous, but with the Bills ahead next week after getting screwed by the referees last week, the Rams should be as galvanized as any team on Sunday. The Eagles don’t look right on either side of the ball. Hate the hook, but this is the right side.
FanDuel. This is a very low line for Kyren Williams, who is coming off consecutive 85+ rush yard games. He’s over in 2/3 this season, and 14/17 last season, including a 94-yard performance against the Eagles. Philadelphia has struggled against the run, allowing 120+ yards in each game thus far. They’re also struggling with ball control, allowing their opponents 52% time of possession (23rd). Devonta Smith is looking unlikely to suit up, which should hurt them both from an effectiveness and efficiency standpoint. Even with Puka Nacua suiting up for the Rams, they’ll continue to maintain their balance. Take this up to over 59.5.
