With rookie sensation Malik Nabers sidelined because of a concussion, look for the veteran Slayotn to help pick up some slack and clip this total. The big-play threat is capable of getting this yardage on one catch.
Daniel Jones has gone under this number one time and that was in a game where his team only ran 50 plays and didn’t trail. And even then he had 28 attempts. This seems really low for a team that should run plays and trail. Plus, no Singletary putting even more on Jones.
With Malik Nabers officially ruled out for the G-Men, I feel good about locking this pick in at -6.5. This would be a tough spot for the Giants either way -- cross-country road trip against a talented Seattle team. The Seahawks have three outstanding wide receivers (DK Metcalf, Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Tyler Lockett) that will be tough for the beat up Giants' secondary to handle.
Smith's been over this number twice, and in big ways: A close game on the road at New England without Kenneth Walker III and in a high-scoring bonanza at Detroit on Monday. In his two home games, he threw just 25 times against the Broncos and 34 times against Miami in a game without Walker. The Giants are depleted offensively and figure to have a tough time scoring, especially since Seattle's defense has a shot to get some of its starters back. That figures to make for a lighter day for Smith, who honestly could use one after passing 56 times six days ago against the Lions.
Malik Nabers has been ruled out with a concussion, and that's caused this line to move to 7 at many spots while a few books are still at -6.5 (-120) on Seattle. While I believe the absence was already basically priced into the line based on how he was trending, I do want to get in at -6.5 as I had the line at 7 even with Nabers potentially playing. That's because it looks like the Seahawks are getting much healthier on defense, and the offense has been so explosive in the passing game that I expect Geno Smith to put up points on this Giants defense. Get the 6.5 now, and if it crosses the 7 consider Seattle in a teaser.
To say the Giants will miss WR Malik Nabers is an understatement. Not only does he rank third league-wide in yards receiving, he has been targeted eight more times than the next player. New York averages a puny 16 ppg with him. The Seahawks are so decimated at RT that they had to coax a 42-year-old (Jason Peters) out of retirement this week. Even with their tepid offense not on the field very long, the Giants' D has permitted the 12th fewest yards. This total belongs just south of 40.
In this matchup, the Seahawks passing game and secondary are the major advantages in this game. I don't believe the Giants will be able to generate explosive plays in the passing game, while their secondary will have struggles vs the Seahawks vertical threats.
Justin Jefferson. Amari Cooper. CeeDee Lamb. What do all three have in common? Two things come to mind quickly. First, they all are No. 1 WRs for their respective teams. Second, they have all scored touchdowns against the Giants this season. Considering top WRs are batting .750 on this prop vs. the Giants, I'll take my chances with Metcalf, who has also scored twice thus far in 2024.
New Seahawks offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb promised to feed his top receiver and he's done so to the tune of three straight 100+ yard receiving games. Against a Giants secondary that struggles against their opponents' top wide receivers, I see no reason this line should be less than 74.5 yards. I'm confidently on the over 63.5 for DK.
Geno is thriving again this year, throwing for 289 or more in three straight games, and leading the NFL in completions and passing yards. He is facing a toothless pass D here in a revenge game, and should go off. NYG allowing opposing QBs to post a rating of 106.5, completing 73% of their passes. Seahawks loaded with WR options and Smith can pick and choose his matchups. He is over this in 5 of 9 home games since the start of last season. Weekend forecast in Seattle looks like a great day to pitch and catch.
It sounds like stellar Giants rookie wideout Malik Nabers will not play, and No. 1 running back Devin Singletary is in doubt as well after missing another practice on Thursday. Seattle's defense had been great before Monday night's loss in Detroit, but the Lions are an entirely different animal at home. And New York's Daniel Jones is most decidedly not going 18-for-18 passing like Detroit's Jared Goff did. Jones is probably more likely to go 0-for-18 than be perfect like that. Our model has the Giants with 17 points in Seattle and that's what I'm thinking.
