We're just a few weeks away from the Alberta online casino market going live, and a clearer picture of what operators will launch has been presented by Alberta Gaming, Liquor & Cannabis (AGLC). The regulatory body released a list of 28 online casinos that have been approved to offer legal gambling in the province, including some of the top brands in the industry.

Top online casinos ready to launch in Alberta

As released by the AGLC, the Gaming Registrations document breaks down all the real money online casino operators that have either started the Alberta licensing process or completed it. All told, nearly 30 platforms are listed, including some of the best mobile casinos in the U.S.

Among the notable brands listed are:

  • Caesars Palace Online Casino
  • Bally Bet
  • BetMGM Casino
  • DraftKings Casino
  • FanDuel Casino
  • Golden Nugget
  • PointsBet
  • BetRivers

Of course, the government-run platform PlayAlberta was also listed as an approved operator, as the province is ready to join Ontario as the second regulated online casino jurisdiction in Canada. Ontario went live with iGaming in April 2022.

Alberta online casino market ready to open with a bang

Some operators will offer more than just legal casino games online, as multiple brands intend to also roll out regulated online sportsbooks in Alberta, while a few companies – including FanDuel and BetMGM – will also debut mobile poker.

While brands such as these garner much attention, there are still a number of Canadian-owned platforms planning to debut as Alberta targets a July 13, 2026, launch of online casinos. As well as PlayAlberta, that list features the likes of Bet99, Betty Gaming and River Cree iGaming, which also runs land-based casinos in Alberta.

The Gaming Registrations document notably does not include well-known brands such as bet365 and 888, but that does not mean companies like those are completely left out of the Alberta online casino market. In fact, regulators have noted that more online casinos could join the market after it goes live in July.

Officials estimated that the regulated Alberta online casino industry could generate upward of CAD $100 million in annual tax revenue.
