Gifted rookie QBs come ready to play in this league. Case in point - Jalen Hurts. In two starts, he has accumulated seven TD passes with nary an interception as Philadelphia exceeded 400 total yards in each. Now he gets to feast on a pushover defense without two mainstays in DT Antwaun Woods (ankle) and LB Leighton Vander Esch (ankle). Ezekiel Elliott returns for Dallas after an injury rehab. So what? The accomplished RB is south of four yards per carry and has not scored since Week 5. The Eagles finish strong, having won 75 percent of their games in the season’s last month during coach Doug Pederson’s tenure.
The Cowboys' slim playoff hopes have yet to be dashed thanks to back-to-back victories. The new-look Eagles are also still alive with rookie QB Jalen Hurts, who won his debut and turned in a thrilling performance against Arizona last week. Expect his teammates to elevate their play as road favorites versus Dallas.
The Cowboys have put up 71 points the past two weeks, but gained 291 and 272 yards in those games. Now Ezekiel Elliott is coming back, and he's been less efficient than Tony Pollard. Go Under this inflated total.
Rookie QB Jalen Hurts has shown he can move the ball and put some points on the board in a win against the Saints and a loss at Arizona. Those games, coupled with the Cowboys putting 30 on the Bengals and 41 on the 49ers in the last two weeks, have elevated this total, which has gone too high. The last three meetings have stayed Under, and I expect both defenses to play well and keep this one Under the total.
Philadelphia's decimated secondary had no chance against Arizona in a game where the Cardinals racked up 526 yards of offense, and while they'll be a bit healthier with Darius Slay likely coming back from a concussion, he won't be able to cover everyone the Cowboys trot out at the receiver position. The Eagles did lose one of their pass rushers last week in Josh Sweat, while the Cowboys suffered several injuries on the defensive side of the ball in a game where they allowed 458 yards of offense to a team trotting out backup QBs. With both Jalen Hurts games going Over for the Eagles, and four of the Cowboys' last five also going Over, that's the way to look on this total.
