Credit the Eagles for fighting back to beat Washington and the Giants ... but that's Washington and the Giants. Despite this being a road game, the NFC East title and a playoff berth are on the line. The Cowboys have more talent in most phases of the game, particularly where it matters on offense. Against a familiar opponent like this, Dallas will be less prone to surprise from the Philadelphia coaching staff. Can Jason Garrett actually ... maybe ... save his job ... again? I'm not at all concerned about Dak Prescott's shoulder, and if it is ailing him, perhaps this is the game Ezekiel Elliott can go nuts and take the pressure off?
The favorite has covered in seven of the teams’ last eight meetings, the road team is 11-5 ATS in the last 16, and the Eagles are 4-10 ATS in their last 14 home games. There’s a lot going against Philly here, and it’s the most meaningful start Carson Wentz has had in the NFL. But the Cowboys are too inconsistent for me to support. Eagles are the play.
The drama surrounding Dallas quarterback Dak Prescott -- How bad is his shoulder? -- has kept this spread fluid during the week. Prescott is a go despite bypassing team practices. Philadelphia has seen injuries pile up, and quarterback Carson Wentz’s receiving corps has been thinned. The Cowboys are superior in most matchups statistically, and it’s about time their top-line talent starts producing wins. Playing in Philly, where they have won five of the last six straight-up, has rarely been a concern. Ride with the Cowboys.
This certainly feels like a trap, but I just can't get past Philly's injury issues. Yes they won and covered last week, but it took a late rally to get the win and they had no business covering against Washington. The Eagles should be 0-5 ATS in their last five, and with Lane Johnson ruled out again, Carson Wentz is going to have a tough time against this Cowboys front. Dak Prescott avoided a final injury designation despite practicing little this week, and with him playing, I think the Cowboys continue their dominant run inside the division, where they're 12-1 ATS in their last 13 games.
The Cowboys lead the NFL with 6.5 yards per play, and Ezekiel Elliott and Amari Cooper love facing Philly. With Lane Johnson looking iffy at best, I'll back Dallas to improve to 15-2 ATS in its last 17 versus NFC East foes.
The Cowboys have beaten the Eagles four straight times, and they just ran wild against the Rams. Dallas has two good RBs, which means each has fresh legs. The Eagles have won two in a row, but against who? Washington and the Giants gave them all they can handle. And Philly still has all those injuries. The Eagles don't have the speed to keep up with Dallas. Lay it.
This game is for the NFC East title and a berth in the playoffs. You have to give Cowboys coach Jason Garrett a ton of credit, as he has done a masterful job in coaching against the division. His quarterback, Dak Prescott, also has been stellar within the NFC East. While the Eagles have put together back-to-back valiant efforts against the Giants and Redskins, the truth is that Philly is ridiculously banged up. I can't see the Eagles winning this game. Cowboys cover.
