We have Wisconsin vs. Notre Dame in a neutral site Lambeau Field. Neutral site games in week one since 2021 have gone 16-6 to the under, including yesterday's Auburn-Baylor game and last week's Ireland game. Since 2024, it's 9-2 to the under. The Badgers ended last year with 9 straight unders and did not score on good teams such as Ohio State or Iowa. And Notre Dame's defense is just as good, if not better.
Notre Dame and Wisconsin play at Lambeau Field in Green Bay, and I don't think we're going to see many points scored in the game. Wisconsin has a good defensive scheme, which has helped them keep it under in their last nine games. But they have a problem scoring on offense: they scored 0 points against Ohio State and Iowa and 7 points against Minnesota, Indiana, and Oregon. Notre Dame's defense is not going to do the Wisconsin offense any favors. I see the score like 27-6, right around the number but under the total.
I'm having a hard time seeing how this game at Lambeau Field is actually close. While Wisconsin should be improved, Notre Dame is elite. I believe the Badgers will be a bowl team this season but Sunday night will be rough. I’m not sure how Wisconsin slows down Notre Dame's balanced attack led by preseason top Heisman contender, quarterback C.J. Carr. And on offense, I don’t see the Badgers doing much against one of the best defenses in the country. Notre Dame 34, Wisconsin 7.
I see this game likely going one of two ways. Either Notre Dame smothers the Wisconsin offense and goes on cruise control in the second half, or the Wisconsin offense muddies things up to slow the game and keep it close. Both options feel like lower-scoring affairs.
