Alberta iGaming: Final countdown to Monday launch day
The debut of legal online casinos in Alberta is only one day away, as many of North America's top brands get ready to go live in the province as early as July 13.

In mere hours, the regulated Alberta online casino gambling market will open up for the first time. Thanks to the passage of Bill 48, also known as the iGaming Alberta Act, many of North America's most recognizable online casinos can start launching on Monday, July 13, starting a new era of legal iGaming in Canada.
When will the first Alberta online casinos launch?
For months, officials in Alberta have circled July 13, 2026, as the official go-live date for a more open and competitive iGaming industry.
That, of course, comes courtesy of not one but two bills that lawmakers passed over the past two years. First was Bill 16 in 2024, which amended the Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis Act to authorize the expansion of legal online gambling in the province.
Then came Bill 48 in 2025, which officially cleared the way for more licensed Alberta online casinos. Previously, only government-run PlayAlberta operated as a regulated iGaming platform.
With dozens of online casinos registered in the province, there will be plenty of options for Albertans. To be eligible, users will need to be at least 18 years old and physically located in the province.
Alberta online casinos expected to launch
As noted, there is certainly no shortage of options expected to be offered in Alberta when the market opens on July 13.
According to Alberta Gaming, Liquor & Cannabis, there are 50 brands registered to operate in the province, including a host of platforms that are considered among the top online casinos Canada could offer.
Among them are two brands that are arguably the most synonymous with regulated gaming in BetMGM Casino and Caesars Palace Online Casino, which is one of three Caesars Entertainment-owned apps expected to launch, alongside Horseshoe Online Casino and Caesars Sportsbook & Casino.
On top of that, both DraftKings Casino and FanDuel Casino could go live as early as July 13, as well as several operators with strong Canadian ties such as Toronto-based theScore Casino. When officials give the green light and these – and dozens more – operators debut, Alberta will join Ontario as the only provinces with legal online casino gambling in Canada.
How to sign up with an Alberta online casino
Eligible residents who want to get in on the Alberta online casino industry can do so in a quick manner by following only a few steps, beginning Monday, July 13.
First off, as it has been emphasized, users must be at least 18 years old and physically located in Alberta to play legal casino games online.
When individuals find an online casino that fits their tastes and preferences, they can visit the operator's website or download the app and then click or tap "Sign Up" or "Join." Users will then need to submit their full name, residential address and birth date to begin the registration process.
Customers should also be prepared to upload a copy of their driver's license or passport so that Alberta online casinos can verify their identity. Users will also need to share geolocation services with operators to confirm they are located in the province.
After that, players can start making real-money deposits into their account and begin playing casino games online – kicking off a new age of legal online gambling in Alberta.
