The Jets are allowing over 26 points a game and now have Sauce Gardner and Cam Jones out. They've allowed five teams to cash this and now get a Flacco-led Bengals team who has cashed their team total in every home game, with the 3rd most points a game at home.
Outsized line (on the surface) for the Bengals, which have been terrible defensively this season. However, this is a one-week flier play in no-man’s land on a team that should have a significant offensive advantage. The Jets were trying to play tricks with their starting QB, but Justin Fields is starting. Meanwhile, Garrett Wilson and Sauce Gardner are both out. Cincinnati gets Trey Hendrickson back, which is the best news it could receive from an injury standpoint. New York has lost three of its last five by a TD or more, while Cincinnati can get back to .500 and give itself a fighting chance of making the playoffs if it maintains its momentum. Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins should both have big games.
Jets QB Justin Fields not only takes the field without injured Garrett Wilson, their foremost WR by a clear margin, he will have this week's criticism from the team owner echoing in his years. New York also sends out a rookie CB to replace ailing Sauce Gardner, so the best WR combo in the conference -- Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins -- should thrive. Higgins has been a stat machine since the arrival of QB Joe Flacco. The Jets fare especially poorly on the road, having gone 23-44-1 in recent seasons.
We keep thinking that the Jets might finally get over the hump and notch a win. Maybe with Tyrod Taylor in the lineup, though that won't happen here in Cincy, as a sore knee keeps Taylor out this week after he came out of the bullpen to relieve Fields last Sunday vs. Carolina. With Fields' confidence at a low ebb after recent wretched efforts, we're hardly sure he's the guy to lead the J-Men to their first win of the season, especially as Joe Flacco has given the Bengals a spark. Yet Aaron Glenn has the Jets close most weeks, with five one-score losses, and in the last two games, scorelines in Jets games have totaled just 43 points! Play Jets-Bengals Under

Fant is over this receiving yards mark in every game he has gotten a target this season (5/6). Flacco has yet to miss on a target to his TE Fant, who he already had a connection with from their time together on the Broncos in 2019. Fant has been highly efficient, hauling in 20 receptions on 22 targets this season. I expect Flacco to continue utilizing Fant, especially after he made some key plays and scored a momentous TD late in last week’s game. Books are still sleeping on Fant with this low receiving yards line.

Riding the wave on this prop. Flacco is over this pass attempts total in 5/6 games this season, and soared over it in his first game as a Bengal. My analysis is the same as last game- Cincy didn’t acquire Flacco so they could hand the ball off to Chase Brown. Their star WR duo finally broke out last game, and the Bengals should be looking to replicate getting 30+ targets to Ja’Marr Chase & Tee Higgins. The Jets will be without their best CB Sauce Gardner, so Flacco should be airing it out.

Flacco has been on a heater since joining the Bengals, throwing 45 and 47 passes in his first two starts without turning the ball over. That's huge after he had six interceptions in his four starts for Cleveland, leading to his benching and eventual departure in trade. Credit goes to the much better weapons he has at his disposal in Cincy, and with the Bengals big favorites, it's unlikely he'll throw anywhere near the same volume of passes this week. The Jets have managed zero interceptions in seven weeks and will be without Sauce Gardner, so it feels like we're getting a lot of value with Flacco only slightly juiced to not throwing a pick.
Joe Flacco brought a spark to the offense on Thursday night in a primetime divisional game, and the Bengals have ridden that wave all the way up to being touchdown favorites at DraftKings. That's an absurd amount of weight to put on one game, and the Cincy defense still ranks 31st in yards per play. Flacco would have to be elite (top three in NFL) to erase that negative differential, and I don't think below average teams should be laying seven. The Jets defense has held two straight teams to 13 points, and hopefully the offense gets an upgrade at QB this week if Tyrod Taylor is named starter. This is asking for a backdoor cover if nothing else.
Joe Flacco isn't the only reason the Bengals have new life. Their defense has shown modest progress under first-year coordinator Al Golden, who has benched vets like Cam Taylor-Britt and Logan Wilson at the expense of promising young players. After having to face Jared Goff, Jordan Love and Aaron Rodgers in succession, Cincy now will prepare for Justin Fields or Tyrod Taylor. The winless Jets are dealing with injuries to Sauce Gardner (concussion), Garrett Wilson and Breece Hall. If Gardner can't play, look for another monster game from Ja'Marr Chase.
