Understanding Public and Money

Think of 'Public' as the percentage of people betting on each side and 'Money' as how much money is being bet. When there's a big difference between the 'Public' and 'Money' data, it usually means that the more serious bettors (referred to as 'Sharp Money') are favoring a particular side.

Adam's Analysis:

This is not necessarily the best spot to take the Chargers coming off their best win of the season as the Titans are simultaneously entering off their worst defeat. Still, it’s clear this is a completely different offense with Mike Williams and Keenan Allen both healthy and contributing. At the same time, while Los Angeles has been extremely rough against the run, Derrick Henry should be the key focus of its defense given Tennessee’s problems in the passing game. With the Titans missing so many key players in the secondary, the nod here goes to the Chargers. Try and wait to get -2.5 before kickoff as the half point may be extremely valuable.

Matt's Analysis:

Always a stress backing the Chargers because you just never know which team shows up -- or when Brandon Staley might make a stupid call on fourth down. However, the Titans are quite banged up on defense (that unit has been terrible the past two weeks) nd probably rather one dimensional with wideout Treylon Burks sidelined again. LA might actually have a home-field advantage for once as Titans fans aren't really known for traveling well. Really, though, this is Justin Herbert > Ryan Tannehill.

Matt's Analysis:

Derrick Henry could have a big day on the ground against a bad Chargers run defense (set at 100.5 yards, but I'm not touching that), but I also expect them to try and stack the box and make Ryan Tannehill beat them. All we need is one 16-yard screen pass to Henry and this cashes. He has had at least 34 yards receiving in three of his past four.

Larry's Analysis:

The Titans will be missing starting corners Kristian Fulton and Tre Avery, which bodes well for Mike Williams. The Chargers' top deep threat practiced in full three times and appears to have put his ankle injury behind him. Last week he caught all six of his targets for 116 yards. With Tennessee giving up a league-high 283.7 passing yards per game, go Over 64.5 receiving yards. I'd play this up to 67.5.

Mike's Analysis:

The Chargers, hampered all season by injuries, are getting well. No healed player is more important than C Corey Linsley. It's no concidence that QB Justin Herbert was sharp last weekend during Linsley's return from rehab. Tennessee has fallen outright in three straight. Its limited offense will be further curbed without concussed WR Treylon Burks. L.A.'s defense, beleaguered but improving, can focus on corralling RB Derrick Henry by taking a strategy page from others that have done so lately.

Mike's Analysis:

Allen has been limited to only six games this season because of injuries. Since returning from his most recent stint on the sidelines, he has recorded at least 88 receiving yards in three of four games. He has back-to-back games with at least 14 targets, which he turned into a total of 18 receptions for 180 yards. The Titans have allowed the third-most receiving yards to wide receivers in the league, making the over an appealing option for Allen.

Allan's Analysis:

The Titans find themselves in an interesting spot Sunday in Los Angeles. Tennessee's defense is banged up and quite frankly the team needs an AFC win in the worst way right now. That said, Mike Vrabel has to make a few decisions here. The defense will have to keep an eye on Austin Ekeler both in the run and short passing game while also trying to keep Mike Williams and Keenan Allen from taking the top off for big plays left and right. That leaves tight end Gerald Everett open in Titans no-mans land to possibly strike consistently, especially for a Chargers offense that often finds itself in 3rd-and-7 or so situations over and over. The Jaguars exploited this last week against Tennessee to the tune of tight end Evan Engram going for 11 receptions and 162 yards receiving. We don't need 100+ yards from Everett, 35 sounds nice to me.

Allan's Analysis:

The Titans are headed to Los Angeles to face one of the worst rush defenses in NFL history, no hyperbole. That said, we're going to attack this differently because Tennessee is using him differently. The Titans' offensive line is injured beyond belief which is why you've seen Henry have some difficult games on the ground as of late. He could still go off, not saying shy away from rushing props, but over the last five games Tennessee has utilized him in the short pass to alleviate a porous line and imposing rush...to the tune of 12 receptions for 180 yards total. This play is even better if Tennessee is playing in a negative game script, which could very likely be the case.

Larry's Analysis:

The Chargers showed last Sunday night how effective they can be when both Mike Williams and Keenan Allen are healthy. Justin Herbert should feast against a Tennessee defense that's given up 25 passing touchdowns (second-most) and a 96.3 passer rating (sixth-highest). LA could get key defenders back like Bryce Callahan and Sebastian Joseph-Day. The Titans have given up 71 points the past two weeks (at Philly, vs. Jacksonville) and lack the healthy weapons to keep up here. Lay the field goal.

R.J.'s Analysis:

The Chargers offense finally got its groove back with Mike Williams returning, topping 400 yards for the first time since Week 5. That didn't translate into a lot of points last week, but they're up against a weak Titans pass defense that's surrendered 71 points in the last two weeks. The Chargers are atrocious defending the run, and that should mean big things for Derrick Henry after he had a huge first quarter last week then fell out of the gameplan. That shouldn't happen in this matchup. This feels like a game where these teams are mostly trading touchdowns instead of field goals.
