The Steelers won in outright fashion last week at home, but it was an ugly performance. The betting market still does not trust Pittsburgh rookie QB Kenny Pickett, or the Steelers on the road. While their play is not worthy of a prime-time spot, I believe they have a defense strong enough to hang with the Dolphins. This will not be the same high-octane Miami team we saw before QB Tua Tagovailoa’s injury. Take the underdog.
There is a 10% chance of rain at Miami on Sunday night with the temperature at 80 degrees and humidity at 60%. Miami QB Tua Tagovailoa is expected back from concussion protocol after the Dolphins lost three straight without him. The Steelers have both the No. 29 offense and defense but were fortunate to beat a struggling Bucs squad in Pittsburgh last week. I don’t think rookie Steelers QB Kenny Pickett will be able to keep up with Miami on the road. Dolphins win by double digits and cover the spread.
The Steelers pulled off a huge upset last week but this is a bad spot. Tua Tagovailoa is coming back from his concussion and the Steelers' secondary won't have an answer for Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle. If Pittsburgh rookie Kenny Pickett clears concussion protocol, he'll start over Mitch Trubisky despite the veteran finishing the win over Tampa Bay with two massive third-and-long conversions. In three games, Pickett has thrown one touchdown and four interceptions while rushing for two scores. The Steelers average a league-low 4.8 yards per play, which won't be enough to keep up with Mike McDaniel's offense. Look for Miami to cover for the eighth time in its last 10 home games.
The Dolphins opened the year with three straight wins against potential playoff teams (NE, BAL, BUF) and are coming off three straight losses, all of which involved QB injuries. Tua Tagovailoa will be back under center, and the line hasn't caught up to that development. The Steelers are a great fade coming off an big upset win and hitting the road in a tough place to play, especially as it looks like Mitchell Trubisky could be back under center. Miami's defense played great against Minnesota for the most part and should have a big game here, and I think the Miami offense gets back to scoring points behind the Tua-Tyreek Hill connection.
