I'm isolating the Spurs team total of 111.5 in this one. This number is a handful of points too high by my projection. San Antonio has 111 with Wemby and 103 with half of Wemby, and now they go on the road and are without their best player. Portland is a top-5 defense when it comes to limited quality 3-point looks. In this day and age, a lack of open 3PA creates a low offensive floor, especially for a young team playing its first road game of the postseason.

FanDuel. Keldon Johnson steps up on the boards in the absence of Victoria Wembanyama, having cleared this line in 17/18 games in the regular season without the big man. This includes three games against Portland, each with 8+ rebounds. Look for the sixth man of the year to come through on the glass again tonight.

In the playoffs, there are certain players that need to be told to shoot the ball more. I would not be surprised if Spurs Coach Mitch Johnson, and his teammates spoke to Julian Champagnie on taken more shots. Through two games he has taken just seven shots, but has made five of those. In the regular season Champagnie had just seven double doubles, two of those were against the Portland Trailblazers. The quiet producer so far in the series, raises his game to what we saw in the regular season. Take Champagnie’s over.

Dating back to the regular season, Scoot Henderson has started 10 straight games for the Trail Blazers. During that span, he averaged 17.0 points. He scored 18 points over 27 minutes in Game 1, then followed it up with 31 points over 38 minutes in Game 2. He only shot 37.3% from the field and 30.1% from behind the arc on the road this season, but he shot 47.1% from the field and 40.5% from deep at home. Combine all of that with the Spurs possibly being without their best rim protector in Victor Wembanyama (concussion) and Henderson could be primed for another productive evening.

The Spurs will look to De’Aaron Fox to carry their offensive tonight as they get ready for a pivotal Game 3 against the Blazers in Portland. While Fox’s numbers are fairly pedestrian this season, he really thrived in games without Wemby averaging a robust 24.6 PPG, compared to just 16 PPG when the pair shared the court. I consider Fox one of the best crunch time scorers in the league and expect him to be very aggressive looking for his shot tonight.

Luke Kornet is playing fantastic basketball. He's plus-20 through two games vs. Portland, having scored 20 points with 15 rebounds, three assists and just one turnover. Victor Wembanyama is questionable with a concussion, but I don't expect him to play. I'm betting he's more likely to return in Game 4. That would mean about 30 minutes Friday for Kornet because the Spurs are very weak behind him (Carter Bryant, Mason Plumlee). In the regular season, Kornet produced 17, 34 and 21 PAR vs. Portland. In this series, he's delivered 17 and 21. Even if Wembanyama plays, Kornet's efficiency gives him a chance to cash this.
Clearly the books think Victor Wembanyama is playing. He is the face of the league now, so in my opinion ... he's not playing. Obviously the NBA wants its stars out there, but he was knocked out cold the other night on national TV and the optics of rushing him back from a concussion would be terrible. Hey, if Wemby is cleared then he is. Great. Incredible to watch. I think he's back Game 4, though, so this is Portland's one chance to steal the series. Or at least home court. Tonight is the franchise's first home playoff game in five years. Portlandia!

DraftKings. Going with Scoot Henderson’s over is an obvious choice after his 31-point explosion in Game 2, but sometimes obvious is the right call. Remember, Scoot came into the NBA as a highly, highly touted prospect, and after some inconsistencies and injuries, he seems to be finally putting it together. He does seem to thrive in this matchup - scoring 18 and 20 points in the other two games played against the Spurs, and averaging 14 drives per game in the three full games. So yes, coming off a massive game, back in Portland, with a longer leash on his playing time - I’m happy to buy high on Scoot.
