FanDuel. It can be a fool’s errand betting on an over for a bench player in the playoffs, but this line is too low for Dylan Harper. The rookie averaged 11.8 points per 22.6 minutes in the regular season - even if he loses a rotation, I have him at 9 points in 17 minutes (essentially his average). And this is a plus spot schematically against a Portland defense that bleeds transition and primary ball-handler points. Harper’s role increased over the back half of the season, even with the Spurs at full strength. And him being a rookie doesn’t bother me as much, since most of this Spurs roster are new to the playoffs.

Portland didn't have to face Victor Wembanyama this season, so Game 1 could be a rude awakening. Wemby has been cleaning the glass very efficiently lately. And whenever he plays substantial minutes -- like he should Sunday -- he's been an effective distributor as well. Portland likes to play a fast pace, which should only increase Wemby's opportunities.

The Portland Trailblazers dealt with injuries throughout the season, including with Shaedon Sharpe. Sharpe missed over twenty games from his injury on February 6th, to returning right before the postseason. His role now will be off the bench but he has seen a minutes increase each of his last three games. For the first time since February 3rd he scored over double digits in the play-in win over Phoenix. Look for Sharpe to be ready to contribute at a high level whether it’s 20 minutes or 28 tonight against the Spurs. Play his over.

This will be the first taste of the playoffs for this young Spurs team. One of the few tested veterans that they have is Harrison Barnes, who previously won a title with the Warriors. Despite only averaging 22 minutes over the final 15 games of the regular season, he scored at least five points in 11 of those games. It’s also worth noting that this game will be played in San Antonio, where he shoots 47.5% from the field. I’ll take a chance on him hitting the over on this very low points total.
