Jacob Lopez has allowed 15 home runs in 75 innings against righties this year, making that the far worse side of his split and putting Kazuma Okamoto in a great spot to go deep. He’s hitting the ball hard nearly 60% of the time when facing a lefty this year, and has a team high 38% fly ball rate to go along with a 16% barrel rate. This ballpark helps turn fly balls into home runs as we’ve seen many times, so take the Blue Jays slugger to hit one (or maybe two) out of the park tonight.
Sutter Health Park in Sacramento is a hitter’s paradise. With a 125 Run Factor and a 127 Home Run Factor, it’s one of the most offense-friendly parks around. Toronto’s lineup, full of high-contact hitters (2nd-lowest strikeout rate), is in an ideal spot to take advantage of A’s starter Jacob Lopez. His low-spin breaking pitches are likely to lose their bite in the hot, dry Central Valley air. The Athletics’ bullpen is exhausted. Multiple key relievers have high pitch counts over the last three days. The unit owns the league’s worst ERA while ranking 28th in home runs allowed. Five runs for the road team seems very doable in this spot.
