Gavin Williams is one of the biggest K machines in baseball with 190 in 149 innings this season. The Giants' K rate is low, but increasing as the season goes. They struck out 10 times against Parker Messick Wednesday. Williams recently had five straight 10-K games. He only had five last time out, but there's no reason regression should be hitting.
Getaway day and obviously a crazy body-clock time for the Giants and for these purposes, I'm glad they pulled the upset last night. Because a playoff hopeful like the Guards simply can't lose a home series like this. I don't know if MLB managers give pep talks like that before a Thursday matinee but I'm sure it's made clear this would be an unacceptable loss. Pitching matchup sure favors Cleveland with Gavin Williams (11-7, 3.74 ERA) vs. SF's Landen Roupp (0-3, 5.74 ERA this month). This may close near -200 and one of our books is already about there. Certainly a spot where -1 would be fine if want to save 40 cents or so.
