Had this game circled since Friday night and even though three other excellent cappers are on this, got to stick with my gut. Eastern Washington is the hottest in the Big Sky currently. The Eagles are in revenge, losing by three the first meeting, and Idaho is still without their staring point guard, Kolton Mitchell. Eastern Washington still has a chance to win the regular season while also being 9-1 ATS in their last 10 games. The Vandals are 0-5 SU in their last five trips to Cheney. Idaho may have a slight edge on the boards but with how Eastern Washington is performing offensively, it's tough to ignore.
EWU is stomping thru the Big Sky like Godzilla in an eight-game win streak (nine straaight vs. the line) to pull within a game of fading Portland State at the top of the loop as the conference tourney beckons in Boise. Win margins are also expanding into March, the last three all by double digits including Saturday’s 88-57 rout of NAU in Cheney. While UCR transfer G Isaiah Moses (17.6 ppg) has been the catalyst most of the season, it’s been frontline transfers 6-9 Kiree Huie (ex-Miami-Fla; scored 23 in last Thursday’s win over Northern Colorado) and 6-8 bruiser Alton Hamilton IV (NAIA transfer via Lewis & Clark; 23 points on Saturday vs. the Lumberjacks) who have helped key this recent surge. Play EWU
Well, I'm ready for this sport to devastate me in a newer, funner way Monday from the Big Sky. This feels light. EWU has won eight in a row and is tied for second in the league standings, so it has conference tournament seeding reasons to care. Plus, the home finale. Seven seniors will be honored. Just no reason at all for Idaho to care as it is locked into the No. 7 seed for the Big Sky Tournament -- in Idaho. I mean, this all looks so obvious for the Eagles, but we certainly know college basketball doesn't often work that way. I see Thomas Casale is on the play so that makes me feel better. Sorry for joining Tom :)
Eastern Washington is rolling right now. After starting 5-17, the Eagles have won eight straight games and are tied for second place in the Big Sky standings. EWU is like Miami OH was earlier in the season. They keep winning but the market isn't giving them much respect yet. This line opened at -2.5 but I have the Eagles closer to -5 at home. Idaho won the first meeting 84-81 back in early January when EWU was a different team. I like the Eagles to stay hot and even the score on Monday. Play the ML or spready up to -3.
