After notably being absent from the initial list of perceived online casinos that were approved to launch by regulators, bet365 Casino has now been added to that rolodex by Alberta Gaming, Liquor & Cannabis (AGLC). As a result, one of the largest gambling brands in the world can be expected to debut in the Alberta online casino industry when it launches on July 13.

Another top online casino is expected to operate in Alberta

With the launch of Alberta online casinos just a few weeks away, officials are continuing to review applications from potential operators in the province.

That list of expected platforms has now reached 31 brands, including some of the best mobile casinos in the U.S., and now also features bet365 Casino. According to the AGLC, bet365 intends to offer both casino games online as well as regulated sports betting. That makes the company the sixth such operator to go live with multiple platforms in Alberta.

Bet365 has a long history of regulated gaming, not only in North America but also around the world. It entered the U.S. via the New Jersey online casino industry in 2019 before expanding into Pennsylvania five years later and Michigan just this year.

Now, bet365 Casino will lay roots in Alberta, its second Canadian province after launching in Ontario in 2022.

Here is the full list of approved operators updated by the AGLC recently.

Alberta online casinos set for July 13 launch

With 31 online casinos now on the AGLC's approval list, the Alberta online casino market is well on its way to the July 13 launch date. Yet there could be even more coming even before the market goes live.

That's based on Alberta officials long noting that they look at Ontario as a template, a province that boasts nearly 80 platforms. Dale Nally, Alberta's Minister of Service Alberta and Red Tape, said during the recent SBC Summit Canada in Toronto that there could be as many as 70 online casinos in Alberta.

On top of that, while the AGLC list includes 31 operators, Nally noted that another six have paid registration fees and expect to launch on July 13.

Officials believe that the industry could generate CAD $100 million in annual tax revenue. Nally emphasized the market's potential during SBC Summit Canada, noting that Alberta comes in "with significant advantages" that include "one of the strongest economies in North America" and "a business environment that understands competition (and) innovation." On top of all that, Nally said, the Alberta government believes that "clear rules and smart regulation create the conditions for growth."
