Understanding Public and Money
David Peterson (2-2, 2.86 ERA) is having a great season and Tony Gonsolin has left something to be desired through four starts. Gonsolin allowed four runs, walked five batters and lasted four innings against the Angels last time out, while David Peterson went six strong innings against the Yankees. Peterson has yet to give up three runs but Gonsolin can be much better than that last start and the 3.99 expected ERA for David Peterson tells a bit of a different story than his results. Both bullpens were torched yesterday, I don't see an edge on either side, but this Mets lineup is missing Brandon Nimmo, Francisco Alvarez and Mark Vientos, so with the Dodgers still an underdog, I'll take a shot.
Not that Tony Gonsolin is a weak spot in the Dodgers' rotation, but we rarely back the Blue because he's on the mound, either; Gonsolin's 4.08 ERA is so-so, and he wasn't too effective in his last start when the Angels got to him four four runs in just 4 IP last Sunday in a 6-4 loss to the Halos. Meanwhile, the Mets wasted a ninth-inning rally last night, only to lose in 13 on a rainy night at Citi Field, but they still have plenty of pent-up emotion in this rematch of last October's NLCS loss to LA. David Peterson (2.35 ERA in last four starts) has pitched well enough to put the Mets in position to bounce back. Play Mets on Money Line

Juan Soto has been off to a slow start with his new team, but he is such a good hitter that his struggles won't last. Despite his low batting average against right-handed pitchers (.217), he's hit seven of his eight home runs this season off righties. Dodgers starter Tony Gonsolin has a 1.8 HR/9 rate since 2023 and gave up two home runs in the first inning of his last outing. Soto is a solid 4-for-12 career line against Gonsolin, and seeing a pitcher that he has familiarity with should help. Our model prices Soto's home run prop at +350, so there's value at +400.
