The line movement in this game made sense, but at what now basically amounts to a pick 'em, there's value on the Titans. Under Mike Vrabel, Tennessee is 13-4 in its last 17 road games. It's also 6-1 ATS as an underdog this season. The Steelers are absolutely in desperation mode, but the Titans are still trying to hang onto playoff seeding with the goal of staying healthy down the stretch. I've been down on Tennessee without Derrick Henry and AJ Brow, but this is not some pushover team. The defense is real, and it should beat an inconsistent Pittsburgh team on Sunday.
This is a big game for the Titans in the AFC, but Pittsburgh is hanging on for its playoff life. This might be its last hope. The Titans have been at their best on the road this season, while the Steelers have been reeling since tying the Lions. The Steelers are 1-3-1 in their last five (2-3 ATS). They’re not good, but I can say the same of the Titans in their last three, which includes a loss to the Texans at home.
Pittsburgh has been outscored 78-16 in the first half of its past four games. If the Steelers start slowly again, they'll have a hard time coming back against Tennessee's above-average defense. Bud Dupree has been activated and will face his former team. Look for Tennessee to run the ball effectively with D'Onta Foreman -- the Steelers rank 30th in rush defense per DVOA -- as the Titans improve to 6-1 ATS in their last seven as underdogs.
The Titans just haven't been the same without Derrick Henry. Since he went out, Tennessee is just 3-2 and averaging nine fewer points per game. Meanwhile the Steelers are a different team at home. They're 4-0-1 in their past five games and 21-8-1 in their past 30 games at Heinz Field. I'm on Pittsburgh.
The Titans are coming off a shutout win over the hapless Jaguars, but the offense didn't play very well in that game and continues to be a major question mark. If A.J. Brown is able to come back for this game, that raises the potential of the offense, but Tennessee hasn't shown much offensively since losing Derrick Henry. The Steelers get a minibye after following up an atrocious first half on TNF with a late rally to come 12 yards from covering. While I've been down on them for much of the year thanks to Big Ben's performance, I think they may deserved to be favored in this matchup against another limited offense at home.
