There was already an Eagles lean for me entering the day, but with Kadarius Toney and Sterling Shepard both out for the Giants, I just don't see how a simple change in offensive playcaller is going to lead to a turnaround against a Philadelphia team that has finally found an identity. Generally, if there was a coaching advantage on the other sideline, I'd fade Nick Sirianni, but that is certainly not the case here. Even if this is close for a while, the Eagles should pull away and win by a touchdown late.
Philly has the Giants right where it wants them -- in New York. The Eagles are 4-2 away from home, winning the last two by substantial margins. New York’s offense cannot get much worse, but the transition from fired offensive coordinator Jason Garrett won’t happen overnight. If RB Saquon Barkley (questionable) cannot go, the Giants will be shy three key skill position players.
It sure feels like we could have better days ahead for the Giants offense after Jason Garrett was shown the door, but the injury report isn't doing them any favors this week. Sterling Shepard and Kadarius Toney will likely both be unavailable, while Saquon Barkley is questionable and Darius Slay is good to go at corner for the Eagles. This run-first Eagles attack will be a new test for the Giants, who have face a bunch of teams that want to beat you throwing the ball. I can see the Giants struggling to backdoor a cover if down late thanks to the WR injuries, and with the Eagles being a much better team right now, I'll go ahead and lay the hook.
Getting rid of Jason Garrett will be a boon to this Giants' offense. The last two times New York suited up as a home dog, the G-Men took out the Raiders and Panthers in outright wins. The Eagles are coming off a 40-point outburst and are at the top of their market value. Look for Saquan Barkley to be more effective after 10 days off, and take the points.
