Longtime special teams coach Rich Bisaccia is the interim head coach. He's well-respected and has been with the Raiders for decades. The key is the new play-caller. Greg Olson has worked with Carr before during his rookie season and beat Vic Fangio back in 2014 against SF. The Broncos have no idea what to expect. You should see more of a spread offense with Olson calling plays. The Raiders were clearly unmotivated playing for Gruden last week. They should be fired up in this division game. The Broncos are ranked No. 29 in red-zone offense and are 2-7-1 ATS as a division home favorite of late.
Raider Betting Nation might cling to the hope that Jon Gruden’s forced resignation on Monday affords the team several days to settle down. I'm not buying it. In hindsight, the Gruden controversy weighed on the team in its lackluster offensive showing against Chicago, and the appointment of the special teams coordinator as interim head coach does not inspire confidence of a quick turnaround. Though so-so on offense, Denver owns a demon defense that should keep the once-potent Vegas O off the board.
Normally when an NFL team rids itself of a head coach I kind of like said squad to bounce back strong as the removal is usually a long time coming and a relief in the locker room. That's not the case here. With Gruden's sudden removal, not sure this will bring extra focus to the team...nor will 100% of the players agree with the move internally. Couple that with a Broncos team who needs a win in the worst way, at home, and the divisional rival aspect as well. Las Vegas' offense has been sputtering the last two weeks and barring a miracle, not sure a new voice calling plays helps. Would rather have 3 instead of 3.5 but we'll take what we can get in case this line shoots higher.
Yep, I'm jumping on Denver with the news that Jon Gruden is out as Raiders coach with more embarrassing emails from his past surfacing via the New York Times. Not clear who will take over as head coach, but I don't see how Las Vegas plays well Sunday with all this going on. The Raiders are on a two-game skid as it is, totaling just 23 points in losses to the Chargers and Bears.
