As a Dolphins fan who watched every second of last week’s bludgeoning, the Bills’ impressiveness was not lost on me. Many are discounting that effort due to the injury suffered by Tua Tagovailoa, but Miami has one of the most underrated defenses in the NFL, and Buffalo went up and down the field on ‘em. Consider that Washington let the New York Football Giants and Daniel Jones do the same thing last week at home, and now it is heading on the road to Buffalo to face one of the best QBs in the NFL in Josh Allen. The Bills are still being underrated from their Week 1 crapfest against the Steelers, and this line coming down so significantly is proof of that. Not only do I like the Bills giving the points here, they make a tremendous teaser play.
My system makes this 9.5, and it was pushed all the way down to a one-score line this week, so I'll happily go against the steam and get a good number. There's been a lot of talk about the Bills not being as good as they were last year, but Washington allowed the New York Giants to go up and down the field on them in Week 2. I think even a less-able Josh Allen should be able to do the same for the Bills.
Las Vegas wiseguys jumped all over Washington and pushed it all the way down to -7, and that’s the lowest number so I went the other way. Washington has had extra time to study the Bills offense, but I can’t get out of my head the way the Giants thrashed that supposedly vaunted Washington defense after being pushed around by the Chargers in Week 1. Bills to cover.
The Bills defense has played better than the offense over the first two weeks, and while the Washington defense hasn't been much to write home about, you feel like they'll get it together at some point and start wreaking havoc on opposing offensive lines. Taylor Heinicke is better than you may expect, but I believe this improved Buffalo defense can keep him in check. With conditions expected to be windy in Orchard Park for this one, a game I already like as a lean to the Under is made even better by the prospect of missed kicks keeping the final score suppressed.
This matchup will be won or lost up along the line of scrimmage. Washington has one of the best front fours in the game, and is facing a Bills offensive line that has had its fair share of struggles early on. If the Bills struggle again, this means we'll see the erratic version of Josh Allen. For Washington QB Taylor Heinicke, it's about being efficient and avoiding costly mistakes. This line seems insanely large to me, better make a play on it now before it moves.
