I wasn't going to pick this game ... then it got to Panthers getting 3, so I think at worst we push here (I recommend buying up to +3.5). Teddy Bridgewater is active (late update: he is now inactive in a surprise, but I still like the points behind former XFL star PJ Walker), as is Lions QB Matthew Stafford, but if you watched the Lions last week (sadly I have to being from Michigan) you could tell his injured thumb didn't allow him to throw the ball well. Wouldn't shock me if he doesn't even finish this game. Plus, no Kenny Golladay, Danny Amendola or D'Andre Swift for the Motor City Kitties.
The Panthers did not go completely south without RB Christian McCaffrey (shoulder). Put QB Teddy Bridgewater (knee), who is questionable, next to him on the sideline and Carolina is doomed. Detroit QB Matthew Stafford (thumb) has his own issues but appears to be a go. The Lions can survive without him throwing often. The Panthers have lost straight-up five straight times and are unlikely to reverse course with a crippled offense.
The Lions have been impressive outside their division, going 4-2 ATS with the only spread losses to Indianapolis and New Orleans. They've also won three of their last four road games outright. Matthew Stafford should play while Teddy Bridgewater is a gametime decision. Look for Stafford to exploit Carolina's problems defending tight ends as T.J. Hockenson goes off. Lay the small number.
