Hawks center Onyeka Okongwu ate his Wheaties before Thursday’s game vs. the Cavs. He scored 29 points – his previous season high was 11 – and grabbed 12 rebounds, also by far a season-best. It’s tough to expect all of that vs. the Pelicans, but New Orleans' center spot, with Yves Missi out, is now manned by the immobile DeAndre Jordan. The active Okongwu had five offensive boards on Thursday.
Aaron Wiggins will be a key part of Atlanta’s second unit this season. He averaged 26 minutes over their first six games, which is on pace to be the highest mark of his career. That helped him score at least 12 points five times. Overall, he is averaging 15.5 points while shooting 51.5% from the field and 46.2% from behind the arc. The Hawks and Pelicans are two of the top seven teams in the league in pace of play, while the Pelicans rank 19th in defensive rating. Wiggins is in a favorable position to score at least 12 points.
