New York is currently tied for last in the league in points per game with 104. Their offense showed progress last night, scoring 111, against one of the better defenses in the East. Chicago is not a good defensive team as no team has scored lower than 120 points in their first four games, averaging 129.5. This seems like a good spot, with a high total, for the Knicks offense to build some momentum despite being on a back-to-back.
Jalen Brunson cleared 25 points in the late minutes of the fourth quarter for us last game so we’ll go right back to him. He’s cleared this number in nine of his last 11 against Detroit. As a Knick, Brunson is averaging 26.7 points against the Pistons and we all know the shooting volume will be there and always has the ability to create something to get to the free throw line.
Jalen Brunson hasn’t played great so far this season. This could be a good spot to get him going as he’s averaged 31 points over his last five games against Orlando. He’s also gone over this mark in eight of his last 10 against the Magic.
KAT has played the Celtics 10 times in his career. He’s only had more than four assists once, coming back in 2024. He only played 24 minutes in the home opener, due to foul trouble. Similar to banner night, wouldn’t be surprised if he commits at least two fouls in the first quarter, having to sit out most of the first half like us fans have become accustomed to. Early in the season, he’ll look to establish himself as a scorer as compared to the end of last season where he was more of a distributor in the playoffs.
Andre Drummond takes over for Mitchell Robinson and faces his former team again. He played them in the preseason, only playing 11 minutes but grabbed five boards in the process. Knicks fans know that some point KAT will get into foul trouble and in comes Drummond. When he does, he'll be the best offensive rebounder on the floor. Drummond’s mobility is better than Embiid and should be able to control the paint, when in, like he has done throughout his career.
Everyone knows this is a must win game for San Antonio. Videos have been circulating that the Spurs are having the best time practicing, warming up and giving interviews despite being down two in the series. The Garden is going to be the most electric it has been and maybe the last 20+ years and the Knicks are focused. New York’s experience, depth and desperation to bring a title home will be the difference maker along with the fans that are going to make it uncomfortable for this young Spurs squad.
Everyone in the discord knows how I feel about the Knicks. Josh Hart even said their “goal is to go down here and take two” and now, the value on the ML is wild. Yes, it's a must win game for San Antonio but Jalen Brunson is on a mission. The Spurs are going to come out firing in this one but the experience, depth, and defensive awareness from New York could wear down the Spurs in the second half and especially in the fourth quarter. As long as Karl Anthony-Towns can keep up the defensive intensity on Victor Wembanyama like he did in game one, the rest of the Knicks should be able to contain the Spurs role players.
Can’t blame someone for talking themselves into Oklahoma City tonight, especially with my Knicks already prepping for the Finals. This is only the 6th time this season that Oklahoma City have been underdogs, going 2-4 SU and 3-3 ATS. Following a loss, the Spurs are 35-11 SU, 18-8 ATS, and have won six of the last 10 games against Oklahoma City. The Thunder have all the momentum coming into game six despite without two rotational pieces and Jalen Williams is still questionable, but San Antonio has shown that they aren’t scared of them anyway. The Spurs have a strong home court, slightly better overall defensive numbers to push this to a game seven.
OG Anunoby is officially ruled out for the game this afternoon. The line is slightly moving back to the Sixers favor for them to keep their season alive. However, if New York wants to legitimately make a run at the title, they have to win today. That would give Anunoby more time to rest for the ECF’s as the Pistons/Cavs could, possibly, go six/seven games. Yeah, make the 6/7 joke. Even without Anunoby, New York is the much deeper team. Paul George starts out hot then fades away as the game progresses and Embiid will get tired which leaves the Sixers with few scoring options. Jalen Brunson is on a mission, biased or not, get the brooms out.
Miles ‘Deuce’ McBride is still dealing with his pelvic injury. He has yet to score more than eight points in each of the last five games but his defensive presence is still there. Deuce has only hit more than one three once in his last five games while also hitting just one shot, total, in four of the same five games as well. You can expect Landry Shamet to get some more time this afternoon since he was the one who gave the Knicks energy when down big early in game three, taking away minutes from Deuce.
Mikal Bridges has went under on his points total in 10 of the last 15 games. However, he’s gone over that number in four straight. With OG Anunoby most likely out this afternoon, Bridges usage and shot attempts should increase. Small forwards have seen success against the Sixers as the last five SF’s they’ve faced have gone over 17 points in five straight games.
Mitchell Robinson has gone over four points in five of the last seven games. Joel Embiid is listed as probable which is better for Robinson to get over this number. Embiid isn’t at 100% while Robinson is and is more capable of grabbing boards and even another poster on Embiid as well. Even if the Sixers bring out hack-a-Mitch, Robinson should be able to get over this low number as he’s be another x-factor with New York over the last few playoffs.
New York has scored more than 111 points in five of their first seven postseason games thus far. The Sixers are without Joel Embiid tonight but New York’s Mitchell Robinson is now a GTD with an illness. The full game over is also a good look since the over has hit in three straight games for New York and back-to-back games for the Sixers. However, New York’s defense has really stepped up after losing game three to the Hawks. New York has scored more than 111 points in nine of their last 11 games against the Sixers.
OG Anunoby has had at least eight rebounds and one assist in five of his last six games. This is going to be a more physical series in the paint for both teams. Anunoby could be able to find success with the big men battling for position then cleaning up the boards. Besides Mitchell Robinson, Anunoby is the best defenders they have, and it showed down the stretch against Atlanta. A weakness for the Sixers is defending forwards who can rebound, like Anunoby. Philadelphia was bottom five in the league with keeping those players off the glass, as Jayson Tatum went over his rebounding prop in four of his five games against the Sixers, and coming off the Achilles injury.
The Celtics were in control of this series until they went cold from three. This is similar to the New York series from last season. Not saying that Philadelphia is going to win this one but they’re playing the better basketball out of the two. If the three’s are falling, then this could be a blowout, but with how the Sixers are currently playing, and in an elimination game, this seems like too many points. Boston gone back-to-back games scoring fewer than 100 points as the Sixers have confidence following two straight wins and are the underdog is 6-3-1 ATS in their last 10 meetings against the Celtics.
