I'm getting really tired of every NBA game, it seems, having a spread between 6-15 points each night. So many bad teams and I don't bet spreads in that range for the most part. Jaylen Brown is in and Kristaps Porzingis out ... but I really don't see the thin Suns (sans Sixth Man Eric Gordon) winning in Boston. Whatever, I just want a reason to care and I can't justify Phoenix ATS. This is the current/updated line on DraftKings with the Brown/Gordon news. Doesn't mean it won't move a little still.
Al Horford should get another start with Kristaps Porzingis (hamstring) out. He also started the last time he faced the Suns, dishing out three assists over 32 minutes. While Horford has only averaged 2.0 assists per game coming off the bench, he has averaged 3.5 assists as a starter. Look for him to record at least three assists again.
The Suns did get Devin Booker back to active duty on Monday at Cleveland; he missed last weekend's home loss to this same Boston. No matter, to paraphrase the late, great Chic Anderson calling the 1973 Secretariat Belmont on CBS, "The Celtics are moving like a tremendous machine!" Three impressive road wins followed the brief 2-game blip last week, so it's now 14-2 across the past 16 for Boston, which didn't even need Jaylen Brown (who likely returns tonight) or Kristaps Porzingis when throttling the Jazz. Partly because Jayson Tatum has been a one-man demolition crew lately, putting 38 on Utah Tuesday night. Now back to TD Garden, where when last seen, the Celtics beat the Warriors by 52! Play Celtics
Boston returns home, where they are crushing people, after a solid road swing. They just handled the Suns in Phoenix, leading by 10 at the half and winning comfortably, with the deeper Celtics bench going +33 in that game (Suns bench -49). Boston is on a 4-0 ATS run at home, with wins of 52, 28, 18 and 50 points. Suns are 1-6 ATS in their last 7 and 2-5 ATS last 7 on the road. Celtics can put on another show here, even as they juggle some injuries. Kevin Durant carrying a heavy load these days and Celtics will do a better job defending him at home than they did on the road.
