Late lineups today for an obvious reason. These teams made a trade today with the Jays sending outfielder Daulton Varsho to the Astros, and he's in the lineup against his former team immediately. Not sure that Toronto closer Louis Varland is available tonight; he wasn't traded but threw 30 pitches Sunday. Former closer Jeff Hoffman was traded today, so that unit is thin tonight. Houston's Josh Hader wasn't needed Sunday so he'll be good to go. Astros starter Cristian Javier has been quite hit or miss in an injury-plagued season but threw five shutout innings last time out.
The Astros beat the Blue Jays two games to one in late June, and in the second game they defeated Shane Bieber 9-7. He allowed four runs off nine hits in 3.2 innings in that game. Bieber comes off a rough outing at Washington, where he allowed four runs off of six walks and a hit and didn't make it out of the first inning of an 8-6 loss. Now he faces the Astros again, who have won six straight and 11 of their last 12 ball games. The hope is that the streak is more powerful than Cristian Javier in his fifth start, who has struggled in three of his starts. Astros to win.
After a miserable start to the season, Cristian Javier has turned it around for the Astros. He posted a 3.00 ERA in five July games and gets the ball here vs. a Blue Jays team that’s winning games, but not by scoring runs. Houston has won 10 of 11, has been crushing at home and Shane Bieber has a 12.54 ERA in three road starts for Toronto.

DraftKings. I’m already on his bases prop, but you can argue that the best value for Jeremy Pena resides on his runs prop. He’s scored at least one run in 60% of his full games this season, including 15/20 full games at home. Shane Bieber has really struggled (5.74 ERA), and Pena will be backed by a scorching hot Yordan Alvarez. Between the two props, I’m betting two units on Pena tonight.

DraftKings. Jeremy Pena is on a tear - the Astros shortstop is hitting .389 since July 1st. Overall this season, Pena is hitting .337 versus righties, .381 at home, and .405 when you combine both splits. He’s cleared this bases prop in 11 of his last 12 games, and in 15/20 full games at home versus a righty starter. He’ll face Shane Bieber to start - the Blue Jays righty has allowed righties to hit 21/59 off him (.356), and also struggled in his minor league rehab outings. I love this spot for Pena, so much so that I’m going to double up with his runs prop as well.

Similar to his teammate Yordan Alvarez, Jeremy Pena has been otherworldly at Daikin Park this season. The Astros shortstop is hitting an incredible .381 at home and has reached 2+ total bases in all seven games in which he has taken at least three at-bats at home since the All-Star Break (Pena left the game on 7/18 after only two ABs). Expect Houston's leadoff man to light up the box score yet again as his team now holds a 2.5 game lead in the American League West Division.

In nine games at Daikin Park since the All-Star Break, Yordan Alvarez has reached at least two total bases in each of them. Dating back to the beginning of July, he's hit this prop in 12 of his last 13 games at home. Alvarez is hitting a Ted Williams-esque .389 at home which is truly unbelievable. Shane Bieber is scheduled to start for the Blue Jays on Monday but even if he doesn't (due to it being trade deadline day), I don't see the Blue Jays' staff slowing down the American League MVP favorite.
