After the game, Mets' Manager Carlos Mendoza said he was pulled because of this being his first time on regular rest and the lineup he was facing. After being scratched for illness a couple starts back, Canning pitched the next day and threw 102 pitches, going six innings. The Nats should be a softer opponent than the Phils and he's on an extra day of rest here, so I'll ride the over.
Trevor Williams survived a ton of loud contact vs a weak O's lineup last time out. The soaring Mets blew a huge lead Sunday and expect a bounce back here. The Mets pitching factory has been great for Griffin Canning, another success story with a K rate much higher than his time with the Angels. Plenty of Mets boppers have nice career splits vs Williams.
