Cleveland has a GREAT bullpen. But they are taxed. I think they will let Lively go a little longer than normal. Also like the strikeouts but that’s now over two dollars (-213). So let’s go plus money
We have enjoyed backing Cleveland this season, but its lineup has regressed to the norm lately, with getting blanked by a spot starter on Monday being a new low. We believe the Guardians bounce back. Why, you ask? Because Kenta Maeda is scheduled to pitch for the Tigers. Cleveland tagged him for seven runs in two innings earlier this season, he has been utterly non-competitive in most of his starts and that 6.71 ERA should get further inflated. Ben Lively has been good for the Guardians and good for us. Cleveland is 7-2 in his last nine starts after a slowish start to the season. Detroit's lineup was baffled by Gavin Williams in the opener. Now we just need a few runs from the Guardians.
Not a huge strikeouts guy and I don't usually chase but saw this posted by PropStarz and I'm like only 3.5? Awfully low number against a bad offense for Cleveland's Ben Lively considering he has whiffed at least four in all but two starts this season -- and the Tigers haven't seen him in 2024, which in theory should only be a benefit for Lively. The Guardians also used five relievers yesterday so likely want at least six innings out of him. The SL Model has lively with five Ks. Four is fine by me.
Not really sure why Detroit's Matt Vierling is set at 1.5 hits considering he's at .245 on the season, .182 this month and .236 vs. right-handers in 2024. He faces Guardians righty Ben Lively first off tonight and is 0-for-2 career off him. Vierling is set at O/U 0.61 hits via the SL Model. Winds should be blowing in a bit at Comerica Park.
Ben Lively is having a solid season and has stepped up after the Guardians lost Shane Bieber to a season ending injury after just his second start. Lively's strikeout numbers have been consistent and has eclipsed this number in eight of his last nine appearances, including four consecutive starts. Lively has recorded at least four Ks in 12/14 starts this season and gets a friendly matchup against a Tigers lineup that possesses the 8th highest K Rate against opposing right handed pitching.
