If the Blues get a solid lead, the Sharks will have to play ?elimination game, empty-net? hockey which usually doesn't end well for the trailing team. That said, I'm taking St. Louis and giving up the 1.5 goals, thinking this game will be a 3-1, 4-0 score in the Blues' favor.

San Jose is in a dire situation Tuesday night. St Louis is on the verge of a Stanley Cup Finals berth, and the Sharks are banged up on both offense and defense. For the Sharks to win, Brett Burns will have to dominate and I look for him to log 25-30 minutes. Either he becomes an instant hero or he will exhaust himself trying. Smart money is pouring in on St Louis to close this out, but my wager will be on the Under 5.5.

Sun 5/19

Today?s game in San Jose is a pivotal matchup and most pundits believe that the advantage lies with the Sharks on their home ice. However, upon closer examination, the real delineator is the continued inspired play of Blues goalie Jordan Binnington. The Blues wouldn?t have made the playoffs at all without the stellar play of JB and he continues to keep St. Louis in most games, almost single handily. His stellar play ensures the scoring will be low. Under 5.5 is the play.

Fri 5/17

Should San Jose win Friday, it will take a stranglehold on a potential series win. The day-to-day status of St. Louis strongman Vince Dunn changes the complexion of Blues' defense, which opens up more space for the Sharks' second line. This spells big potential trouble for St. Louis in terms of puck possession and forcing turnovers. You don't want to give the Sharks any help, and this gives them an edge. Take San Jose to win in this pivotal game.

St. Louis, for all the hype this playoff season, has posted a losing record at home and now is swimming in the deep end with the Sharks with the series tied at 1-1. San Jose should be all hands on deck to right the ship to victory Wednesday.. If not, the Sharks will surely go down in a Titanic struggle with the score going Over 5.5.
