Sun 12/9

The Battle of Alberta continues Sunday. Calgary won the first installment but the ever dangerous Oilers are trending upwards and so the winner is less certain than the outcome of Over 6.0. Both teams are scheduled to start their backup goalies and that bodes well for my predicted outcome. Take the Over 6.0.

Philadelphia is hurting with star forward Sean Couturier out again. Although the Flyers surprised Buffalo in their last game, they are still trending downwards while Winnipeg is great at home. Take the Jets Sunday to win.

Both Nashville and Calgary are generally scoring-challenged and Nashville?s injuries are certainly contributing to that problem. This game goes as the two goaltenders go and Pekka Rinne and Mike Smith are two really good goaltenders. Take the Under 6.0 and hope they both play up to their capabilities.

Thu 12/6

This is the most important NHL game of the season up to this point as Toronto?s star forward William Nylander makes his 2018 debut. 28 games into the season without Nylander has every hockey scribe wondering how good can this Leafs team really be. Fans have been on edge since October waiting for this generational offensive juggernaut to take the ice. That Toronto is in second place in the league standings WITHOUT Nylander?s contribution is very scary for the rest of the league. Coach Mike Babcock now has the luxury of putting three full lines on the ice that have the potential to attack on every shift and the +29 goal differential, which ties the Leafs with Tampa for the leagues best mark, will only escalate from this point on. Toronto to win.

Thu 12/6

Chicago and Los Angeles are in a race to the bottom, and Chicago is winning. The Blackhawks have lost 12 out of 15 games. They are scoring goals but giving up more and can?t hold a lead. Firing coach Joel Quenneville appears to not have been the answer and Wednesday night they go up against the Ducks, who have quietly snuck up the ladder in the league standings. Take Anaheim to win and extend the Blackhawks' season of futility.
