The Tigers played some real solid defense last week against Georgia, but their limited offense is what kept them from being competitive. That should improve Saturday as QB Kelly Bryant is expected to return form injury. But the Gators also have a top-notch defense, one that wasn't threatened in a shutout of Vandy last week. Some big-play offense should be seen, but look for the defensive units to get their share of stops and send this Under.
This is the third time this season that Florida is facing an unranked SEC East rival on the road in a strange environmental situation. This time, the Gators have their earliest kickoff (11 a.m. local time) in chilly weather, against a team that is far better at home (5-0) than on the road. Mizzou is actually 4-3 in SEC play against Florida since joining the league in 2012 and all four wins have been in dominant fashion, including last season. But while this team has been a thorn in the Gators' side, the Florida offense is operating more efficiently than it has in maybe a decade, the defense is mostly healthy and the talent is simply better. Expect a slow start but a rousing second half ... and a cover for UF.
The Tigers have dropped three straight, all on the road, but get quarterback Kelly Bryant back. Florida’s path through the SEC positioned the Gators for this spot on the road. Grab Florida to hand Missouri its fourth straight loss.
Missouri comes off three brutal road games that include a bad loss at Vanderbilt as 21-point favorites The Tigers are 0-4 ATS in their last four. Florida is playing great ball right now and comes off a 56-0 win against Vandy. Florida’s only losses are to Georgia and LSU. The Gators don't get caught off guard here and cruise to the cover.
There have been two Missouri teams this season. There's Missouri at home and Missouri on the road. The home version is much better. That homefield factor is multiplied in this matchup. It's an early kick in 30-degree temperatures. How excited do you think Florida players will be for this one? There's a reason SEC teams don't like to head north!
At first glance, I wanted to stay away from this game. But after pouring over the film, I felt more comfortable going with the Gators. The main reason is because of their defense. Florida can present some of the same challenges Georgia did last weekend. Missouri's offensive line has struggled handling the blitz, so expect to see the Gators doing it often.
The Florida offense is riding high after dominating Vanderbilt last weekend, and now gets to face a broken and demoralized Tigers team that has scored 21 total points over the last three games (losses to Vanderbilt, Kentucky and Georgia). They might not even gain a single yard.
