These two teams met once this season with the same total and the game went under. The first game only got to 120 points and these are two teams that are above average in protecting the rim. Houston’s J’Wan Roberts missed yesterday’s game and is currently a gametime decision. The Cougars led the country in opponents points per game and if Roberts plays or not, they’ve shown that they can step up defensively and shut down efficient offenses.
You have to like Houston because they were 10-0 on the road. Doesn't matter if it's a wild crowd or quiet crowd, Houston's going to play great defense no matter where they're at and that's the point here. They played BYU yesterday and beat them down from the time the ball was thrown up. They were up by 20 before BYU scored more than 20 and that was a hot team on a nine-game win streak. This Houston team appears to have gotten better over their way, especially on offense. Arizona is just 5-5 in their last 10 games. Houston wins.
I don't have much today, so I thought I'd make myself miserable by betting an over in a Houston game. With the way Arizona's offense played in the first two games, 134.5 is a little low. I made the total 137.5. Two factors I like here is Arizona is an excellent free throw shooting team and Houston fouls a lot. The other is being a tournament championship, the game never ends if it's within eight points in the final couple of minutes. Teams will keep fouling to extend the game and that could get us over the number. I don't bet a ton of totals, so I'm going a half unit on the over. Last play before March Madness when we get a little nuts.
