Sports Interaction Casino, a long-time Canadian brand, is expected to launch in Alberta's newly regulated iGaming market today, July 23, 2026. Like all legal online casinos in the province, Sports Interaction had to undergo the licensing process with Alberta Gaming, Liquor & Cannabis (AGLC) and the Alberta iGaming Corporation (AiGC). It's expected to receive full approval from both regulators to go live today.

What Sports Interaction Casino will bring to Alberta

We won't officially know what Sports Interaction (SIA) Casino will offer Albertans until its launch today. However, we can refer to its Ontario platform for clues.

SIA currently features more than 3,800 casino games in the Heartland Province, including slots, live dealer games, blackjack, roulette, baccarat, crash games, scratchers, and more. A variety of providers supply these games, such as Evolution, IGT, Light & Wonder, and Playtech.

While we don't expect Sports Interaction to feature its full suite of games in Alberta at launch, it may still be one of the province's larger operators right away.

Ontarians can deposit as little as C$10 at Sports Interaction using methods like debit cards, credit cards, and Interac e-Transfer. The same minimum deposit could likely apply in Alberta.

The Sports Interaction Casino app is available for iOS and Android devices in Ontario. Therefore, it's probable that Albertans can download the app in the Google Play Store and App Store today.

Sports Interaction's journey to Alberta regulated iGaming

Sports Interaction launched in 1997, making it one of the oldest real money online casino Canada brands. Previously owned by Mohawk Online Limited, it received a licence from the Kahnawake Gaming Commission (KGC) in the late 1990s. SIA is widely recognized as one of the first regulated online gambling sites in Canada.

Despite being regulated by the KGC, Sports Interaction wasn't licensed in any provinces for decades, making it a grey-market operator. Its direction began changing when Entain purchased the brand from Avid Gaming for C$300 million in 2022.

That same year, SIA would receive a licence from the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario. It continues to operate in the Heartland Province today.

SIA began its path towards becoming a regulated Alberta online casino by exiting the province before July 13, 2026. This was the official launch date of licensed private online casinos in Wild Rose Country.

One of the AGLC's rules for grey-market hopefuls seeking an Alberta licence was that they had to leave the province by the July 13 launch. Sports Interaction complied and began working with the AGLC to secure licensing.

Unlike other prominent brands, such as BetMGM Casino Alberta, it did not get a licence and go live on the first day. However, It has now successfully completed all requirements and will become one of the newest Alberta online casinos today.
