While there are expected to be dozens of licensed operators launching when the Alberta online casino industry goes live on July 13, an updated list of registered platforms saw a surprising decline. According to Alberta Gaming, Liquor & Cannabis (AGLC), at least one expected iGaming brand has been removed from the list just a few weeks ahead of the market's launch.

The more recent updated list of registered brands to operate Alberta online casinos saw a rare decline, according to the AGLC.

While the province still lists 46 platforms to potentially go live when Alberta rolls out licensed online casinos on July 13, it is one fewer than the previous total. When comparing the two lists, it appears that Grizzly's Quest from Cadtree Limited has been removed.

Owned by Super Group, Cadtree did not provide any reasoning as to why the Grizzly's Quest platform no longer exists on the list of registered operators. There are still four other Cadtree brands on the list, however, including:

  • JackpotCity
  • Royal Vegas
  • Ruby Fortune
  • Spin Casino

All four are live as real money online casino Canada operators in Ontario. With Grizzly's Quest, however, one could surmise that the brand ran into regulatory issues in Alberta. After all, Alberta's iGaming rules explicitly prohibit the use of "cartoon figures" in branding – which Grizzly's Quest does with cartoon bears and moose – as they could appeal to minors.

New Alberta online casino suppliers added to list of registrants

While the running tally of expected Alberta online casinos declined, two new gaming system providers were added as the market is now under two weeks until launch.

That includes AGS, which has developed over 100 themes for casino games online and itself offers more than 50 titles for mobile and land-based casino gaming.

In addition, another familiar brand in High 5 Games was added to the running list, a company that has produced ever-popular games such as Da Vinci Diamonds, Golden Knight and Majestic Cats Deluxe Ways.
