FanDuel. Armed with a new contract extension and job stability, Seth Lugo looks to build on his strong season tonight against the Braves. Despite not being a strikeout pitcher, Lugo has cleared this line in twelve of his last fifteen starts. He’ll face a Braves team that’s maintained an above average strikeout against righties all season, including 24% over the last month.
Erick Fedde was let go by the Cardinals last week as he struggled prior to the move, and I'm not convinced he just figures it out tonight. The Royals will likely stack five lefties and that's the side Fedde has been worse against; allowing a .290 average with 10 home runs in 49 innings. He's also allowed 26 walks to lefties in that time and struck out just 31 batters. The Cardinals' righty has been hit hard and features the 4th lowest Stuff+ rating of starters today. On the other side Seth Lugo came up just two outs short of seven quality starts in his last eight appearances. Great price to gamble on the F5, and I'm going with this to avoid another bullpen disaster.
The Atlanta Braves are now fifteen games below .500 with a 45-60 record. Yesterday, they ended a five game losing streak thanks to producing ten runs at the plate. That may be needed again as the Braves will start former Cardinal Eric Fedde, who had been struggling over the last month. Grab the value on the Braves to take the first two games over the Royals.
It wasn't all the fault of 45-year-old Rich Hill on the mound last night...there was plenty of blame to spread around the Royals pitchers who issued a franchise record-tying 14 walks in a10-7 loss. We don't expect that to repeat tonight vs. a Braves side that was slumping badly entering the Big K, and tonight goes with recently-added Erick Fedde, who had been having all sorts of problems with the Cardinals.(3-10, 5.22 ERA). Meanwhile, Seth Lugo, just re-signed to a nice extension for KC, has allowed 2 or fewer runs in three of his four July starts. Play Royals on Money Line
Erick Fedde makes his first start for Atlanta after coming over from St. Louis. There is a reason why the Cardinals wanted to get rid of him. Fedde got shelled in his last five starts, allowing 26 runs in 17.2 innings of work. Meanwhile. Seth Lugo has been on top of his game, giving up two runs or less in eight of his last nine starts. I'll back the Royals at home at this short price.
The Braves got a rare road win Monday, homering 3 times and drawing 14 walks, but I like the Royals to bounce back strong behind Seth Lugo (7-5, 2.95 ERA). This will be his first start since signing a two-year extension to stay in K.C. Atlanta's entire Opening Day rotation is on the injured list, so the Braves made a desperate move and acquired Erick Fedde from the Cardinals. In his last 12 starts for St. Louis, Fedde went 0-7 with a 6.38 ERA. The Braves have suited up as road underdogs 21 times, winning five.
