Yeah I know the Giants have squat to play for and likely rest guys, but 16 points even with Davis Webb at QB? This ain't the World Cup where the Eagles need goal differential. Philly will get Jalen Hurts and its starters out of there ASAP.
When QB Jalen Hurts starts, the Eagles average a fraction under 30 points per game. If they approach that figure, an Over would happen with the Giants registering a couple of touchdowns. It's a mystery how much first-year New York coach Brian Daboll will deploy his starters. The Eagles appear in it to win it, with a No. 1 seed in mind, so they will make sure victory is in hand before calling off the dogs. Look for Hurts and sidekicks to attack the defense and pile up enough points to feel safe.
The Giants have nothing to play for, as they're locked into the No. 6 seed. Leonard Williams, Daniel Jones, Saquon Barkley and other stars are expected to sit out. But this is a massive number and the Eagles remain without elite right tackle Lane Johnson. They're 9-22 straight-up alltime without him. Jalen Hurts likely will play through his shoulder injury, but could run less than normal. With competent backup QB Tyrod Taylor expected to start for the Giants, New York should be competitive. Take the points.
The Giants have earned a playoff spot and the right to rest starters in Week 18, but that doesn't mean they'll try to lose on gameday. And if Tyrod Taylor is under center, the Giants may still have the better QB in the matchup after Gardner Minshew's performance last week. The alternative is to start a not-close-to-healthy Jalen Hurts without star right tackle Lane Johnson to protect him, which doesn't seem conducive to covering this massive line. Brian Daboll is going to make the Eagles work to win this game, and three of the last four teams with winning records that were double-digit underdogs in the final week of the season covered. Consider that a warning if the Eagles seem like an easy play here.
