The Raiders picked up a nice win last week against an equally rough Broncos team, but the Seahawks are a different beast. Seattle is 4-1 SU and ATS since Oct. 16 with its lone loss coming to Tom Brady in Germany. There is a significant disparity in these teams both from a coaching standpoint defensively. Not only that, the Seahawks are coming off extra rest and playing at home. Las Vegas is too depleted to keep up offensively with Darren Waller out, and though Davante Adams may get his, there's no guarantee anyone else will have much success. Back Geno Smith and crew. I like this up to -4 as both lines are available at the time of this posting.
Maybe Geno Smith won't continue to play above expectations all season, but if he falls off a cliff it's unlikely to come against the league's worst pass defense by DVOA (and by a large margin) in the Raiders. DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett vs. Vegas DBs is a mismatch, as is Pete Carroll vs. Josh McDaniels. The Raiders -- with Darren Waller and Hunter Renfrow already on IR -- likely would like to lean on the run game here, but Josh Jacobs is listed as questionable, as is Kolton Miller. The Raiders have yet to beat a team this season that's not in the bottom three in scoring. Lay the points.
The last time we saw the Seahawks, they played an ugly game against the Bucs in Germany before some fourth-quarter TDs made the final score respectable. And that was apparently enough to justify the market's doubt about a team that had won four straight coming into that game. But the Bucs defense is one of the best in the league, and the Raiders defense definitely isn't, so I expect a nice bounceback from Geno Smith and Co. coming out of their bye. The Raiders managed to pull off a comeback overtime win over the Broncos but I still have little faith in them, and their travel schedule has been brutal, with this their fourth road game in five weeks. Seahawks roll.
The Seahawks come off their bye, while the Raiders are playing a second straight road game following a grueling overtime win in Denver. Geno Smith, Tyler Lockett and DK Metcalf should have a huge day against the NFL's worst pass defense. Raiders running back Josh Jacobs, who's averaging 5.1 yards per carry with seven touchdowns, was added to the injury report Friday and is questionable (ankle). Look for Tariq Woolen to slow down Davante Adams and for the Seahawks to cover..
