The Bills are dealing with some injury issues, but do the Jets have the horses to take advantage? No. Buffalo burned me last week blowing a spread by this exact margin with Green Bay pulling off a backdoor cover, but that required a rare Josh Allen end-zone interception, a mind-numbing second pick and a garbage-time touchdown with Aaron Rodgers behind center. Zach Wilson is not Rodgers, and he’s notably rough when pushed off his spot. What’s going to happen when Buffalo gets after him consistently only rushing four? Without Breece Hall, this Jets team simply does not have enough firepower. This is not the Patriots they are playing. The Bills may start slow, but they should be able to pile it on late for a two-touchdown win. I will wait until closer to kickoff to see if -10 is available, and I would consider buying it at -10 (-115) if possible.
The Bills are now at a take number after an opening mark of -13 at most books. The Jets are somehow 4-1 in games started by Zach Wilson, but that's more despite than because of him. The Patriots put things into perspective last week by forcing him into three INTs and a 24.1 QBR. That type of performance won't be good enough against a Buffalo club that, despite its holes in the secondary, has too much firepower for the Jets to keep up with. New York will need to play a near-perfect game and get some breaks to keep this one close.
This is an all-in spot for the 5-3 Jets, coming off a home division loss and facing another AFC East foe before their bye. It's a massive number for.a division game. While Zach Wilson has been horrible and ranks as the NFL's worst passer under pressure, the Jets should have some success on the ground against a Bills defense that gave up 6.7 yards per carry to Green Bay. James Robinson certainly will get more than the five carries he received in his Jets' debut. New York allows 4.7 yards per play, third-fewest in the NFL. Take the points and look for a final in the neighborhood of 27-16.
The Bills are widely considered the NFL's best team, and the market is taxing their spreads as it did with the Chiefs a few years ago. But despite its elite offense, Buffalo hasn't gotten into one shootout all year, even against other elite offenses like the Dolphins, Ravens and Chiefs. As a result, the only time they've played an Over 47.5 game was in a 41-7 rout of the Titans. But the Jets defense has become elite itself, ranking third in yards per play, and Zach Wilson looks incapable of leading an effective passing attack. That means this game profiles more like 24-10 than 34-20 as the Buffalo defense takes over in the second half.
