Lamar Jackson and Hollywood Brown are out for the Ravens, so what the hell am I doing here? Well, I'm trusting a team in Baltimore with a significant coaching edge that's rested and been practicing with Tyler Huntley working as QB1 for the better part of two weeks. With Khalil Mack out for the season, Akiem Hicks also out for the defense and Allen Robinson being one less weapon for Justin Fields, the Bears have injury issues of their own. John Harbaugh is going to have a game plan to stop Fields, who gave his brother Jim so much trouble in college, and the Ravens should win this by a field goal in another example of a backup quarterback surprising this season.
Lamar Jackson has just been ruled out so this total likely drops soon with Tyler Huntley starting. Alas, we thought Jackson would play on Friday and took the Ravens -4.5 and that's probably a loss now.
This is not exactly news, but Bears coach Matt Nagy has done a horrible job with this team. He has completely mismanaged the quarterback situation. Meanwhile the Ravens played poorly on the road last week, but they've had extra time to prepare for this, and I expect them to bounce back in a big way. Ravens roll.
Lamar Jackson, Marquise Brown and Rashod Bateman all returned to practice Friday so expect this number to rise. I love getting the Ravens coming off a disappointing loss, with extra rest. Yes the Bears had a bye, but Chicago is 0-7 SU and ATS in their last seven following the bye. While Justin Fields has taken a big step forward, he won't be able to keep up with a rejuvenated Baltimore attack.
Lamar Jackson was back at practice Friday after missing two games with an illness, so I expect this spread to start creeping back up to 6, where it was a few days ago. Chicago could be without Khalil Mack (pretty sure he's out), Akiem Hicks and Allen Robinson. Oh, and the Bears have yet to win or even cover a game out of a bye under Matt Nagy. That tells you all you need to know about his coaching ability. Seriously, just hearing the words "Matt Nagy" is like listening to someone next to me vomit, which in turns makes me want to. The Ravens looked awful in Week 10 at Miami and almost never play back-to-back poor games under John Harbaugh. They should win by at least a TD.
The Bears have had to sit on bye for two weeks after being jobbed out of a win against the Steelers in primetime. But while conventional wisdom says playing a team out of a bye is good, that hasn't been the case this year, where those teams are 4-9-1 against teams that played the previous week. Justin Fields had been starting to get into a rhythm in the Bears offense, and I wonder if a week off will affect that adversely. This line came down with several key Ravens on offense missing practice this week, but Lamar Jackson, Marquise Brown and Rashod Bateman were all back in action Friday. I think the Ravens blitz puts Fields off his game and Baltimore gets back on track.
