With the return of RB Dalvin Cook, the Vikings' offense ranks in the top five over the past four weeks, and they have gone Over four times in their last five contests. Minnesota is coming off a 31-28 loss to Dallas and now sits at 4-7, so if there ever was a must win for the team, this is it. Carolina QB Teddy Bridgewater makes his return to Minneapolis. The Panthers' offense is above average, ranking 13th in DVOA, and the defense is ranked 19th. Look for plenty of fireworks.
The most reliable thing about the Vikings this season has been trusting their sketchy defense and come-and-go offense to produce lots of points. Seven of their 10 games have gone Over the total. While I think they do a good job running the ball, I think Carolina gets a chance to win with Teddy Bridgewater back in the lineup. I’m avoiding the Vikings side, but I did take some of the Over.
The Panthers still don't have Christian McCaffrey, but their receivers are outstanding and Carolina can exploit Minnesota's defense regardless of who starts at QB. Matt Rhule is doing an outstanding job. Take the points with Carolina.
Each of these teams is loaded with offensive playmakers, but has a shaky defense. This total is about a touchdown low. The Over is cashing in more than 60 percent of my simulations.
