There are plenty of NFL starting QBs who are legitimately worth four or more points to the line. Sam Darnold isn't one of them. He was ruled out and bettors wasted no time pushing this line up from -2.5. It's doubtful the struggling second-year pro would have made this much of a difference Monday night. Backup Trevor Siemian has a 13-11 career record as a starter. Jets defensive coordinator Gregg Williams felt he was snubbed for the head job in Cleveland, and the Jets also have motivation from being the club that allowed the Browns to end their losing streak last season.

I loved the Browns in this spot before the news came that Sam Darnold has mono, and I love it even more now. Get it before it moves if you can.

With Sam Darnold out due to mono, this line is going to jump. There may be value on the Jets after it peaks, but your best bet is to get it now while you can.

The is a play on the Browns bouncing back after the humiliation they endured last week in a 43-13 home loss. They’re better than that and I think they’ll prove it in front of a national audience. I’m also playing against the Jets' offense. I don’t think they can keep up with the Browns, score for score. The Jets only had 223 yards of offense in their home opener last week and their defense got gassed in the fourth quarter. Lay the points.

I fully expect the Browns to take out their frustrations from last week's embarrassment on the Jets. New York struggled moving the ball last week against the Bills, and I expect that to happen against what should be an excellent Cleveland defense. My model says the Browns cover well over 50 percent of the time, so you're getting value with Cleveland at this price.

The Jets defense played really well in the first half against the Bills. But when LB CJ Mosley went out with a groin injury, it opened the door for the Bills to come back and win. His status is worth monitoring, though he said he expects to play. Ultimately, it won't matter as the Jets' offensive line will have trouble holding up against Myles Garrett, Olivier Vernon, and former Jet Sheldon Richardson. Expect a bounceback game for the Browns offense against a weakened Jets defense.
