I'm gonna follow SL model creator Stephen Oh on this pick. Looney has totaled 25 rebounds in the past two games but those were at home, where he averages 10.0. On the road? 7.9 rpg and the under is 25-8 on his rebounding total in away games, according to Stephen. In three games this year vs. the Clippers, Looney is averaging 8.3 boards. He doesn't tend to play a lot of minutes against them for matchup reasons.
Both teams have identical records and plenty to play for in terms of seeding and avoiding the play-in tournament. The Warriors have captured some of their vintage magic, but they go on the road against a rested Clippers team with their full complement of superstars (the Warriors last two wins have come against the Bucks without Giannis and the Suns without Durant). It appears that Jonathan Kuminga will be back for this game for the Warriors, but it won’t be enough for a bad road team in a tough spot.
Golden State has struggled mightily on the road, going just 7-26. The Clippers have had since Saturday to rest up for this game. Los Angeles covers in 68% of my model's simulations, making this an excellent value pick. Look for the Clippers to take care of business and cover the number tonight.
The Warriors have pulled off back-to-back impressive wins over the Bucks and Suns. However, both of those game were at home, where the Warriors are 29-7. They are only 7-26 on the road. A crazy stat is that they have won eight straight at home, but have lost eight straight on the road. The Clippers are well rested after having not played since Saturday, so look for them to deal the Warriors yet another loss on the road.
Wednesday game. The Clippers are humming on a three-game winning streak, all against likely playoff teams, and they can't let up because they still only sit sixth in the West, one spot ahead of the play-in tournament. No rest worries for Kawhi or PG-13 as LA has been off since Saturday and doesn't play again until this Saturday. Frankly, though, this is simply fading the Dubs on the road, where they are shockingly terrible and have lost eight straight. Still no Andrew Wiggins. Weird we haven't learned what's going on there.
