DraftKings. Mackenzie Gore has been lights out this season on the strikeout front; he’s racked up 75 punch-outs in just 52.2 innings, clearing this line in seven of nine starts. He’ll now get Baltimore again (8 K’s in 6 innings pitched in April) - the Orioles have been awful against lefties all season, with a 25% K% and a pitiful 50 wRC+. Seven of eight lefties that the Orioles have faced with a better than average strikeout rate have cleared this line. And Gore’s metrics are elite (93rd percentile in whiff rate, and 96th in strikeout rate).
The Baltimore Orioles were a popular wager yesterday to end the Twins win streak, but instead were swept in a shutout loss. They are now just 2-9 over their last eleven games, and will look for a fresh start in their new series against the Washington Nationals. Struggling starter Cade Povich will had his best outing against Washington on April 24th. Take the Orioles to get the best of McKenzie Gore for the second time in a three week span.
Nats took 2 of 3 vs the O's in WSH already this season. Both teams have major issues but the O's lineup is a joke. The front office insists of batting a hapless fallen prospect 3rd or 4th and Mackenzie Gore is legit. Cade Povich is pitching on heavy extended rest and will likely be off. O's just played 27 innings vs Twins in 27 hours and got swept while scoring in 2 of those 27 innings. The O's are 57-73 since June 20th, with 3rd worst home winning % in MLB since then.

It looks like there may be some rain to dodge here but in my article posting shortly in the analysis tab, I explain why I'm going to start a ladder here at seven strikeouts on MacKenzie Gore. He matches up with an Orioles team that is dead last in MLB in OPS against lefties, and possesses one of the highest strikeout rates. Gore has four pitches with a better than 47% whiff rate and three pitches that he's racking up strikeouts with. Even with the iffy weather, I feel the 7th strikeout should be the favored side here.

This number should be higher. The Orioles are the worst hitting team against lefties in the majors and MacKenzie Gore, a lefty, leads the majors with 75 strikeouts in 52 2/3 innings. He averages 8.33 strikeouts per start and struck out the O's eight times a few weeks ago.
