Don't think this is a year where I'll be playing the Cardinals much (or Giants or Rays) and unfortunately did last night as they were blown out. Only reason throwing some down here is the Snakes are sitting three of their best hitters in Lourdes Gurriel, Ketel Marte and Gabriel Moreno in a getaway game. Normally that'd be a total play but I don't like 8 much.

Our breakdown of this game leans heavily into the different in quality between these two starters. D-Backs lineup starting to heat up and the Cardinals are terrible against lefties and they face a quality one today who is looking to shove against a team that gave up on him. Kyle Gibson is a high variance guy and if they don't chase his sweeper he doesn't have an out-pitch or special velo. STL is not a good team

I'm a big Jordan Montgomery guy. He is perpetually underrated and I expect him to shove against the Cardinals, who dealt him away and who can't really hit the ball well and Cards are second-worst in batting avg vs lefties and 26th in OPS. Kyle Gibson is very hit or miss and D-Backs bats looking a lot better with more professional ABs lately.
