The Pirates have now lost six consecutive games. Coincidentally, Pittsburgh has also lost six straight JT Brubaker starts. At home, Brubaker holds a 5.44 ERA, so I don't have much faith that he'll be able to contain a Red Sox lineup that has scored a total of 13 runs in the first two games of the series. Like most of Boston's starting pitchers, Josh Winckowski has better stats away from Fenway, namely a 2.82 ERA and 1.21 WHIP. He's also up against one of the worst offenses in the majors. The Red Sox have begun to turn things around, winning five of their last six games, so I'll back them on the money line to sweep the Pirates tonight.
Im slightly regretting not playing the Red Sox in either of the first two games of this series as it seems like they’ve figured it out again lately. But Josh Winckowski has been pitching very well overall this season and should have success against a Pirates team that is missing many key players like Ke’Bryan Hayes. JT Brubaker has been decent lately but I like the Red Sox to stay hot and get the sweep. The Red Sox were also able to save their top bullpen arms on Wednesday with the blowout.
