5 Live PicksThe nation's top two scoring defenses face off...
Will points be at a premium in Camp Randall Stadium on Saturday night?
Houston is 5-0 lifetime against Utah...
Will Old Dominion continue its poor run ATS this season?
Will the SEC letdown effect claim another victim this weekend?
This is a HUGE amount of points to lay in this Pac-12 rivalry but I can't resist. Oregon State is the only 6-0 team against the spread in FBS and boasts the leading passing attack in college football. Quarterback Braden Atkinson has thrown for 21 touchdown passes, while freshman wide receiver Jesse LeGree leads the nation with 932 yards and 12 touchdowns. The Cougars offense has been painful to watch and things won't get much better in Corvallis on Saturday. It'll be bombs away for the Beavers in Week 7. Oregon State 41, Washington State 13.
While most of the attention is focused on Alabama's dynamic offense, its defense has been excellent this season as well. The Crimson Tide held Kentucky, Georgia, and Mississippi State to at least 16 points below their season averages. Tennessee is averaging 34.7 points per game but that number drops to 27.5 points against Power 4 teams (including 45 points against a lousy Georgia Tech team in Week 2). If Alabama sells out to stop the nation's 7th leading rusher, DeSean Bishop, the Volunteers' offense will come to a halt. To me, the Crimson Tide all but assure themselves an eventual CFP berth with a win on Saturday. Alabama 27, Tennessee 13.
Despite two impressive home victories of late, I'm not completely sold on Missouri. This week's game feels like a major letdown spot for the Tigers. Ole Miss has won 13 straight games at home and bounced back well from the blowout loss to Florida, with a five-touchdown win at Vanderbilt after a bye week. Both teams play Texas and Georgia later this season, so a second SEC loss this early all but eliminates them from CFP contention. While this is a revenge angle spot for Missouri / former Ole Miss QB Austin Simmons, I think his replacement Trinidad Chambliss outshines him greatly on Saturday. Ole Miss 34, Missouri 20.
Boston College is the only team in the country which hasn't played to an Over just yet (0-5 O/U). The Eagles' offense is outside the top-100 and faces a stout Pittsburgh defense, which is 2nd against the rush nationally. On the other side, the Panthers start a career backup quarterback (Holden Geriner) against a decent BC defense which is ranked inside the top-40. Add to that a stiff wind is in the forecast with gusts up to 35mph. The Boston College Under trend will continue for another week. Pittsburgh 21, Boston College 14.
The southeast is going to get a hurricane / tropical storm this weekend and Statesboro, GA is projecting a 92% chance of rain plus windy conditions. That's not a great formula for scoring as well as the fact that JMU is giving up less than two touchdowns per game thus far this season. While both teams generally pour on the points, each has played at least one lower-scoring game this year. The Dukes win this one in semi-ugly fashion. James Madison 27, Georgia Southern 13.
When the Longhorns have won this rivalry of late, in three of the last four years, they have won by daylight. Texas has beaten Oklahoma by 49, 31, and 17 points in those three games and considering the Sooners' offense is a total disaster in 2026, I see a similar outcome occurring on Saturday. Oklahoma has managed only 37 total points in their last three games against Michigan, New Mexico, and Georgia. A bye week last week isn’t going to fix what’s clearly broken. Against a Texas defense that is giving up only 13.3 points per game, I have a hard time seeing the Sooners score more than twice. #1 Texas 26, Oklahoma 10.
Dating back to last season, Oregon has scored 42, 42, 51, 34, and 84 points in its last five home games. The Ducks are averaging 47.5 points per game this season, while the Bruins are at 44.8 PPG. I'm not overly sold on either defense so expect fireworks in Autzen Stadium on Saturday afternoon. These teams are a combined 7-1 to the Over this season and even with Dylan Raiola likely at quarterback for the Ducks, I have a hard time seeing them not in the 30s at least. The Bruins make it interesting late but fall short. Oregon 38, UCLA 30.
There's wind in the forecast in Lincoln which is why this total has dropped three points during the week. But that doesn't scare me with two dynamic offenses in play. Both Indiana and Nebraska are averaging more than 43 points per game this season. Sure, there's risk that the Hoosiers will play it conservative with a titanic matchup on deck vs. Ohio State next week. But then again, that's not Curt Cignetti's style. I think Nebraska, despite its 30 game losing streak against ranked teams, keeps it close for three quarters before the Hoosiers score twice in the fourth quarter to hit our Over line. Indiana has scored 30 or more points in 15 of 21 games dating back to 2025. Indiana 34, Nebraska 23.
Maybe the sportsbooks are overvaluing Iowa State? And maybe this is a trap line? If so, I'm falling into the trap. I know BYU has injury concerns this week including star running back L.J. Martin and they might be looking ahead to the Notre Dame game next week, but beating Iowa State at home shouldn't be a problem either way. I originally thought the Cyclones would be the worst team in the Big 12 after Matt Campbell took seemingly half the team to Penn State. Somehow they're 3-2 and hung in there against Iowa and Utah despite losing. I think the Cyclones hang around once again for at least a half before the Cougars take over late on Friday night. BYU 31, Iowa State 14.
This one is based purely on the eye test as I watched the Cougars closely last week against my Arizona Wildcats. Washington State hung tough well into the second half against Washington and Arizona, while also having played at a good Kansas State team. Meanwhile, in Fresno State's only tough game on paper, they were walloped by USC, 39-0. Look for the Cougars' defense to keep the Bulldogs' offense in check throughout. WSU needs this game if they have any chance at making a bowl game after a 1-3 start. Washington State 24, Fresno State 17.
