This is a get-well spot for the Nittany Lions after their tough loss against Oregon last week. Meanwhile the Bruins, who were playing their first game after the firing of DeShaun Foster, didn't get any of the new-coach bump last week in a loss to Northwestern. UCLA has lost by much more than 24 to teams much worse than Penn State.
The coaching purge at UCLA continued this week when offensive coordinator Tino Sunseri was canned. While the Bruins' offense has been a dumpster fire, Sunseri worked magic at Indiana last season. His replacement is Jerry Neuheisel, who has never called plays. This is a downgrade. Given Penn State's stingy defense, UCLA will struggle to crack the zero on the scoreboard. Kevin Coyle, brought in last week by interim coach Tim Skipper to coordinate the defense, got off to a good start when his unit held Northwestern to 17 points. Penn State's offense is potent, but Coyle's D could keep it in check with a repeat performance, delivering an Under.
