This looks almost a last-chance saloon game for teams trying to salvage something from a season in the rugged SEC. In recent weeks, however, there seem to be a few more positives from the Auburn side, even as the Tigers have been losing. No shame, however, in the combative efforts at Georgia and Mizzou, both covers for Hugh Freeze's team, and in the positive stat news of recent weeks n the Plains, QB Payton Thorne hasn't tossed a pick in two weeks after mistakes earlier in the season. Meanwhile, the Cats surrendered almost every type of score in a sloppy effort at The Swamp. Georgia transfer QB Brock Vandagriff is not proving to be the second coming of Will Levis, either. Kentucky brings back 16 starters from last season including nine on the defense and they'll take on an Auburn squad that has lost four in a row. Kentucky comes off of brutal game at Florida where they lost 48-20. That's not them, it was just one of those things on the road that happens time to time. But their defense is solid and keep games under for the most part just like they did with Georgia who they lost 13-12 to. Kentucky has the 12th ranked defense allowing 286 yards per game. They're at home for this game, don't expect a lot of scoring. Just the under.

This is one of those times when neither team deserves to be favored. If it was Auburn who was favored I'd be here telling you to take the Kentucky moneyline. I can't wait to see how hard both these teams try to lose this game.

Three consecutive road games are rare, especially for SEC members who load their schedule with home dates. Auburn, which plays away only four times all season, travels for its third outing in a row. Though the Tigers have pushed some SEC opponents to the brink, the fact their their only outright wins are against New Mexico and Alabama A&M cannot be ignored. As for Kentucky, despite defensive shortcomings against Florida last Saturday, its unit ranks fourth in the league. Auburn's offense often looks as if it's playing in quicksand, so the Wildcats should not need a plethora of points to cover.
