Minnesota won its first two games but didn’t cover against Eastern Michigan (-20) or Nebraska (-7.5). Both games stayed Under the total as QB Athan Kaliakmanis threw one TD and two picks in its short passing game. Although North Carolina has a high-powered offense, it's difficult to get separation from the physical and defense-minded Gophers. Minnesota has struggled offensively in its first two games, but its inexperienced unit should continue to improve and the defense will get enough stops to keep this a one-score game.

North Carolina has an exlposive offense lead by new offensive coordinator Chip Lindsey who was Gus Malzahn's guy at Auburn and most recently Central Florida. The offense is really lead by Drake Maye, one of the top five quarterbacks in college football. Minnesota has struggled offensivley in their first two games ranking #119 in yards per play at just 4.7 yards. The Tar Heels defense is better than Nebraska and Eastern Michigan.
